The pair are said to be at loggerheads in the contestants house, and now Katie's mum has stepped in

First the judges, and now the contestants. Just yesterday, Cheryl and Louis were said to be at war, with catty comments flying over the X Factor desk. Now contestants Katie Waissel and Cher Lloyd are reportedly fighting behind the scenes, sending sparks flying in the X Factor house.

Reports of infighting between the girls have been rife for weeks, with sources citing their insecurity and constant need for reassurance as the cause.

Controversial contestant Katie is said to have been involved in many of the rows, with her comments reportedly making others 'paranoid'.

'She's been saying Cher Lloyd's monopolising Cheryl's time,’ one insider revealed. 'She calls Cher "the golden girl".

'They've had a number of blazing rows because of Katie's comments, but Cheryl begged them to stop as she didn't want the public seeing any more drama with them,' another added.

Now Katie’s mum Diana has waded into the debate, defending the singer over her clashes with rival Cher, and putting their arguments down to a difference in age.

'Katie’s not confrontational. She’s very diplomatic - if she was in a situation, she would walk away,’ she told Heat. ‘She’s all about karma. She doesn’t like bad karma.

‘But you’re talking about two different people: one’s 24 and one’s 17. I think you learn how to handle things in life the older you get.'
