Kate Middleton stays at home as Prince William attends charity dinner solo

Prince William was in stitches when presented with a cake of him and Kate Middleton on their wedding day

Kate Middleton let Prince William fly solo last night as he attended the annual October Club dinner in aid of the St Giles Trust all on his lonesome.

Prince William was left in stitches when he was presented with a special cake re-enacting the scene from his wedding in 2011 where he drove his father’s vintage Aston Martin car from Buckingham Palace to Clarence House with wife Kate Middleton.

William, who is the Patron of the St Giles Trust, attended the dinner without the Duchess of Cambridge and gave a brief speech to the assembled guests.

Although William didn’t have Kate on his arm, the prince still looked dapper in a tuxedo.

Kate Middleton is probably enjoying a well earned rest after a busy few days of public engagements last week, when Kate and Prince William visited the new England football training ground and Kate travelled up to Newcastle on her own as William attended the funeral of his nanny, Olga Powell.

The royal couple also managed a night out on the town when they went to private members’ club Loulou in London along with Pippa Middleton and Princess Eugenie.
