Prince Charles has revealed how much more he's spent since Kate Middleton and Prince William were married

There's no denying that Kate Middleton has done wonders for the Royal family, but the wedding last year and the extra costs that the Duchess incurs have caused Prince Charles's spending to increase by £700,000.

The Prince of Wales has made his official accounts for the last financial year public, allowing us for the first time to see how much extra money Kate has cost her father-in-law.

It's been speculated that Kate's wardrobe has cost Prince Charles in the realm of £35,000 and, although her outfit costs have not been broken down in the official records, it can be noted that Prince Charles's expenditure for official duties and charitable activities, which Kate's dresses would come under, has gone up by £100,000.

All other costs incurred by the addition of Kate Middleton to the Royal family have been minimal with only 2.1 extra full-time staff being employed to help deal with the extra administration.

There has also been no need to buy additional property and Kate does not have any personal staff, such as a dresser, butler or other personal servants among the nine employees who work for her and the two princes.

The cost of the Royal wedding was split between Prince Charles, the Queen and the Middletons and is thought to have set them back around £500,000 in total.

Prince Charles pays for much of the official work undertaken by himself, the Duchess of Cornwall, Prince William and Prince Harry from the Duchy of Cornwall.

Government grants-in-aid pay for official travel by rail and air, communication support and the upkeep of Clarence House.

Public funding for Prince Charles increased by 11.8% during 2011/2012.
