The Duchess of Cambridge is asked what the most treasured item in her coveted wardrobe is...

Kate Middleton's world-famous designer wardrobe is one of the most discussed on the planet, so it's no wonder so many fashion followers are keen to know what the Duchess' favourite outfit is.

Whether she's rocking Jenny Packham sequins, vintage McQueen or regal Roland Mouret, 31-year-old Kate scores score sartorial hit after sartorial hit, whatever the occasion.

So when 12-year-old fashion follower Molly Parmeter was asked to write to a selection of stylish celebrities asking them to describe their most loved item of clothing for a school project, she knew exactly who was top of her list.

And following a hand-written note sent to the royal mum-of-one at Clarence House, Molly received her answer when a thick embossed letter from St James's Palace tumbled onto her doormat…

'It was a beautiful envelope from Buckingham Palace,' Molly explained. 'But we laughed because Michael Flatley's envelope was actually a lot nicer. Michael's envelope was lined with a gold leaf and it said Castle Hyde in gold also.'

So what was the Duchess of Cambridge's answer to the question on everyone's lips? Well, ever the diplomat Kate replied saying it was impossible to choose one item over another.
