Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, is pregnant with her second baby, Clarence House has announced.

A statement read: 'Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their second child.

'The Queen and members of both families are delighted with the news.'

Duchess Kate is once again suffering with severe morning sickness and is currently being treated by doctors at home at Kensington Palace.

The announcement continued: 'As with her first pregnancy, The Duchess is suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum. Her Royal Highness will no longer accompany The Duke of Cambridge on their planned engagement in Oxford today. The Duchess is being treated by doctors at Kensington Palace.'

Hyperemesis gravidarum means she may need extra hydration, medication and nutrients. Kate was due to attend the Invictus Games on Wednesday and then is set to make her first official solo overseas tour for two days in two weeks' time, from September 20-21, but a spokesperson has said the Duchess's attendance at future events would be decided on a 'case by case' basis.

Kate and Wills are already parents to one-year-old Prince George.
