Kate Middleton made her first solo engagement since announcing her pregnancy in Norwich today to launch an appeal on behalf of East Anglia Children's Hospices (EACH). The Duchess met with families whose children were in the care of the hospice, as well as schoolchildren from the area.

Kate chose a sophisticated red dress by London-based designer, Katherine Hooker for the occasion, which she teamed with black suede courts, matching clutch and a low ponytail.

With the Duchess's help, EACH are hoping to raise £10 million to build a new hospice for families in Norfolk. Kate is due to address hundreds of guests, to teach them how they can help with the appeal.

Last night, Kate told The Daily Mail, 'I greatly admire the dedication, generosity and achievements of the charity’s supporters and volunteers, and look forward to seeing the progress of this campaign.'

'Chief executive of EACH, Graham Butland, said: 'We’re really excited about the launch of the nook appeal today and it’s great to be able to share our vision publicly.'

'Everyone at EACH is honoured and extremely proud to have the Duchess of Cambridge as Royal Patron and delighted she is able to join us today as we share our vision for the nook.'

Kate has been a patron of EACH since 2012.
