Kate Middleton chooses risque designer for important Jubilee engagement

Piers Atkinson's controversial designs are loved by Lady Gaga and Paloma Faith

Proving that she’s not afraid to push the boundaries of fashion, the Duchess of Cambridge has commissioned controversial designer Piers Atkinson to make her a hat for an important upcoming Diamond Jubilee engagement.

The eccentric Norfolk-born milliner, who has in the past spoken publicly about his dislike of the royal family, is much-loved by the likes of Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Paloma Faith, and now Kate Middleton will wear one of his pieces when she joins the Queen in Leicester to launch the Diamond Jubilee tour or for their visit to Fortnum & Mason later this month, according to reports.

Atkinson’s creations are more on the risky side – think naked barbie dolls riding bananas and dominatrix-style gags – and we’re excited to see what he comes up with for the 30-year-old royal.
