Politics magazine The New Republic has caused controversy in America, after running a cover featuring a Photoshopped picture of Kate Middleton with rotten teeth.

The unflattering snap, which shows the Duchess of Cambridge with decayed yellow gnashes, sits alongside the headline 'Something's Rotten' on the front of the special issue, which features articles on the future of Britain.

And while many have dismissed the image as harmless satire, others have expressed outrage at the magazine's use of the doctored shot.

One commentator wrote: 'What else an one expect from a Republican magazine, they probably dislike themselves. Satire or not, it is still very disrespectful.'

Meanwhile, others called the stunt ‘second-rate’ and 'absolutely ridiculous' with another adding: 'Cheap shot. They know she will remain dignified and not say a word, allowing them to "get away with it".'
