Kate Middleton and Prince William hinted the wait for a royal baby could soon be over during their Diamond Jubilee tour, when they revealed they’d like two children.

Last year, royal watchers said Prince William and Kate Middleton definitely wouldn’t be starting a family in 2012, as the couple had a busy year of royal engagements and wouldn’t want to overshadow the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

But with a successful Diamond Jubilee tour under their belt, and no big engagements planned in the coming months, it’s thought 2013 could well be the year.

During their tour of the South Pacific, Prince William and Kate Middleton sparked rumours their first child could soon be on the way, revealing to schoolchildren that they would definitely like a family of two.

Corine Ackermann, attending with the Tanglin Trust British School said of the Duke’s family confession: ‘Someone asked him how many children he would like to have, and he said he was thinking about having two.’

Earlier this year, Prince William set the rumour mill working yet again, revealing in an interview he would ‘rather like to have children’, adding: ‘I’m just very keen to have a family and both Catherine and I are looking forward to having a family in the future.

And just months later, rumours began to circulate thatKate Middleton was pregnant, after MP Claire Perry made the claims during a visit to Marlborough College.

Caire Perry made the revelation as she gave a talk at the Duchess of Cambridge’s former school – the exclusive Marlborough College – claiming a royal baby would be ‘good for the economy’.

‘I think Kate Middleton is pregnant – and that would be good for the economy,’ she told the audience.
