The Royal couple are expected to race down The Mall

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are rumoured to be running the London Mile together for Sports Relief.

Organisers are optimistic the Royal couple will join the fundraising event, which would see them race down The Mall, near Buckingham Palace on March 25th, while other miles will be run in cities around the Country.

A source close to the event said: 'We are in talks with the Prince’s representatives and understand he is eager to support the event, as he has done previously. We’re hopeful Kate will be able to do it too.

'It’s a huge honour to have the support of the Royal Family for this event, which raises millions of pounds for people in poverty in both the UK and abroad. We hope hundreds of thousands of Brits will follow in their footsteps to run a Sport Relief mile somewhere in the country to raise cash.'

A separate Westminster Mile will take place on March 14th, when more than 100 MP's will leg it through St James' Park after Prime Minister's Questions.

David Williams has already set the money-ball rolling by raising over £1 million for the charity during his gruelling eight day, 140 mile swim of the Thames.
