First pics of Brangelina twins sell for record-breaking $11 million

The first pictures of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's newborn twins have sold for a record-breaking $11 million.

The babies, a boy named Knox Leon and a girl, Vivienne Marcheline, were born by caesarean section on Saturday at the Fondation Lenval hospital in Nice, France.

An exclusive deal for the first photographs has been sold to an unnamed US magazine, French newspaper Nice Matin reports, with all the money expected to go directly to charity.

The record-breaking figure is the highest amount ever negotiated for a celebrity baby deal. The Jolie-Pitt's were paid $5-7 million by People magazine for the exclusive pictures of their first biological daughter Shiloh; all the money went directly to charity.

Jolie and the babies are still residing in the French hospital, where they are expected to remain for a number of days. It is rumoured that the actress may leave during the night, by a helicopter from the roof to avoid prying cameras.
