Jennifer Lopez is our December cover star. Yay!

In an exclusive new interview with Marie Claire, Jennifer Lopez has opened up about life after Marc Anthony - the pair ended their seven year marriage in 2011 - saying that it was her friends who kept her going through the tough time.

The mother-of-two: 'I think I realised they were as important – if not more important – when I divorced Marc. I just realised that I had been through that a couple of times and there they still were. Like they say, men come and go, but my girlfriends are always there for me.'

The singer, who is Marie Claire's December cover star, also opened up about how she has learnt that she needs to take some time off every now and then after running herself ragged in the early days. 'I learned a lot from that time in my life where I did overstretch myself,' she said. 'I can handle it better because I go, 'No, I'm not going to work on that day,' or 'No, I am going to take those three days off,' or, 'No, you cannot schedule the there,' And you realise the sky is not going to fall, even though everybody makes you feel like it's going to.'

In the interview - which took place in Jennifer's very own home in New York - JLo also spoke about her now infamous video for Booty with Iggy Azalea saying that she didn't want to feel that the video (which features Jennifer and Iggy writhing around in some oil) was too raunchy.

She said: 'I wanted it to be beautiful and sexy, not sexy and raunchy. Sometimes when you're younger, you go for raunch, or shock value, but I don't need to do that,' she says, 'I did sexy things but I was always more the good girl who was falling in love as opposed to the naughty girl who was running around.'

JLo was promoting her new Las Vegas residency which will run from 20th of January for two years with 40 shows a year. She said: 'I've been preparing my whole life for this moment. I've done a lot of awards shows and performances and private shows my whole career. But never have I been able to create the defining show for myself and for my music. So I'm super-excited about it.'
