Jo Whiley has had an incredible career spanning 25 years, so there wasn't any doubt that the radio DJ would feature in our exclusive icons shoot with Rankin for our bumper birthday October issue.

To celebrate 25 years of Marie Claire being published in the UK, we asked the world-famous photographer to help us shoot a series of icons with the rising stars who are following in their footsteps. For the airwaves, that meant Radio 1's blonde beauty Jo Whiley and 27-year-old Alice Levine, who last year was asked to fill John Peel's coveted late-night slot.

There are of course, many moments which define Jo Whiley's career as 'iconic', but we're most interested in her rock and roll anecdotes which feature some of the biggest stars in music. Our favourite? The moment Jay Z hung out with her grandmother.

She told us: 'Jay Z coming to my house in the Northamptonshire countryside stands out. The sight of him drinking champagne and eating strawberries with my mum and grandma will never leave me.'

Amazing.
