The star has vowed to prosecute, after Australian magazine alleged an affair with producer Benny Blanco

'Humiliated' singer Katy Perry has launched legal action against an Australian magazine, according to reports, over claims she had an affair with music producer Benny Blanco, while working on her second album.

It’s thought magazine NW claimed the starlet had a 'intimate relationship' with the music professional – who has worked with Britney Spears and Justin Bieber in the past – in an issue published earlier this year.

And now Katy is said to be on the warparth over the incorrect article, which suggests the affair happened after her lavish Indian wedding to Russell Brand, putting their marriage at risk.

It reportedly quotes ‘friends’ Angela Summers and Marlon David as inside sources, neither of which the starlet knows.

The angry singer, who landed in Australia to embark on the next leg of hour tour just yesterday, is reportedly pursuing damages and aggravated damages against the publication, which she says 'gravely injured in her reputation and feelings' with the untrue article.

‘By reason of the publication of the article, the plaintiff (Perry) has been gravely injured in her reputation and feelings (and) has suffered distress, embarrassment and humiliation,’ read a writ launched against the magazine’s publishers at Victoria Supreme Court .

Although the magazine – who failed to apologise for the fake claims - has yet to respond, some are already suggesting Katy could be awarded a six-figure payout.

Katy is just the latest in a long line of stars to sue magazine publishers over untrue allegations.

Last year David Beckham launched proceedings against American Magazine In Touch, after it claimed he had had an ongoing affair with £10,000-a-night prostitue Irma Nici.
