Despite the slump in the housing market the value of the converted barn, based in Upshire in Essex, has increased by almost a quarter of a million pounds in the last two years.

The late Big Brother star bought the house two years ago after selling the Ongar home she shared with ex-boyfriend and father of her sons, Jeff Brazier, with whom the boys now live.

The spacious four-bedroom, two bathroom house, which is described as having stunning views and over one acre of land, was intended as a love-nest for her and her husband Jack Tweed. She offered the chance for Tweed to live in the property after her death, but he declined saying it would be ‘too hard’.

Goody was determined to return to her home to die as she lost her courageous and very public battle with cervical cancer. She passed away in her bedroom there last month on Mother’s Day.

All the proceeds from the sale of the house, which is being handled by Essex firm Hetheringtons and London-based John D Wood & Co, will be put into the trust funds belonging to sons Bobby, five and Freddie, four, set up by Goody before her death.

A source said: 'Everyone is delighted that the house has been valued so highly,' adding, 'it’s brilliant for her sons.'
