And it's giving us relationship goals to the max

George and Amal Clooney have had an eventful past few months, with the couple welcoming newborn twins Alexander and Ella in June.

It was clear from the offset that the couple were planning on being fun parents, releasing a statement to the public that read: ‘This morning Amal and George welcomed Ella and Alexander Clooney into their lives. Ella, Alexander and Amal are all healthy, happy and doing fine. George is sedated and should recover in a few days.’

Since the announcement of the newborns, the couple has been laying low with their bundles of joy, with George only emerging recently to talk about his new children and praise his wife's maternal side, three months after their arrival.

‘Suddenly, you’re responsible for other people, which is terrifying,’ George told Associated Press, going on to praise his wife as a new mother. ‘She’s like an Olympic athlete,’ he explained. ‘She’s doing so beautifully.’

However, it was a recent anecdote that he shared with Vanity Fair that really gave us relationship goals, with the 56-year-old actor showing the hilarious banter between him and his wife, revealing that she often teases him about his E.R. past, with George playing Dr Doug Ross on the US medical show in the nineties.

According to George, Amal actually watches old re-runs of E.R. from time to time, just to tease her husband.

'Every once in a while, Amal - because she didn't really watch television during that period of time - will see it on TV, usually in Europe,' George explained to Vanity Fair. 'And she'll see it and it just makes us both laugh, because I've aged a lot in the years since.'

He continued: 'Yeah, she got me 10 years after that guy, thank god.'

George also reminisced about E.R. earlier this year, before the twins' arrival, while working the red carpet at CinemaCon, Las Vegas, with his Suburbicon co-star Julianne Moore.

When asked if he was ready to be a father by E!, George replied, 'Hang on a minute - I played a pediatrician on E.R.. So I know how to work on extra children. . . . If there’s any accidents, I’m there. I’m the guy.'

'Yeah, he played a doctor on TV. And that's all you need,' quipped Julianne Moore rolling her eyes.

It looks like his TV doctor days must have stuck with him though, as George and Amal seem to be nailing parenthood.
