Take That’s Gary Barlow and Titanic star Kate Winslet have finally been given the nod from the Queen in her birthday honours list.
Gary Barlow, 41, has been recognised for his string of number one hits and his services to music. We’re pretty sure that organising the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee concert and writing HRH’s commemorative song ‘Sing’ didn’t hurt either!
A royal source told The Sun: ‘The Queen was delighted with Gary Barlow’s brilliant work and dedication. She made it clear he should be rewarded at the first available opportunity.’
Oscar-winner Kate Winslet will also receive an award in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list, unveiled on Saturday, for her significant contribution to modern Britain.
Choir master, Gareth Malone has been recognised by the Queen for his work in highlighting the sacrifices made by the British armed forces and their families, leading his singing Military Wives to the top of the charts at Christmas.
‘Kate and Gareth have made a significant contribution to modern Britain,’ says the senior royal source. ‘The Queen is pleased to reward them in her Jubilee year.’
