Florence + The Machine have come under speculation from fans and conspiracy theorists that their latest songs show links to belonging to the Illuminati.

The Illuminati is thought to be a secret society made up of the world's most powerful people, which has links to the Occult and is even said to influence the actions of governments. Lead singer Florence has denied the rumours, saying they're 'ridiculous but complimentary'.

When interviewed on the subject by MTV News the Shake It Out singer sounded baffled, saying: 'That's ridiculous. Really? So people think that?'

The 25-year-old, who recently confessed she was 'freaked out' by the success of Florence + The Machine joked that she was flattered to be associated with other big-name stars who are linked to the lluminati.

'I heard Jay-Z and Beyoncé were members of the Illuminati, so I don't know how I feel about it, because I think Jay-Z and Beyoncé are the most incredible artists ever, so in a weird way, it's slightly complimentary.

'But also completely ridiculous. I'm definitely not [a member]. It's just not true.'

Her latest music videos for Shake It Out and No Light, No Light have come under criticism for the strange symbolism of rituals and evil versus good.
