The uncomfortable Harry Potter starlet admitted spoke about her co-star’s drink problem in an interview with David Letterman
Thousands of fans were shocked when Daniel Radcliffe admitted to battling an alcohol addiction earlier this month. And it seems they weren’t the only ones.
Yesterday Emma Watson admitted she ‘didn’t know much about’ her co-star’s drink problem – which came as the now teetotal actor hit 18 and struggled to handle his worldwide fame.
‘To be honest, it’s really not something that I genuinely know much about,’ she told host David Letterman, during an appearance on the Late Show in New York to promote the final Harry Potter flick.
‘But as far as I know, he never took a sick day. He was like the most professional, amazing guy ever.’
Unfortunately, the sneaky show host’s awkward line of questioning didn’t stop there.
Letterman then went on to ask Emma about her own attitude to drugs and alcohol, and whether she had even been drunk.
‘I mean, yes, I have tried spirits! Of course, I’ve tried spirits.’
‘I mean err, there are substances, whiskey… I’m dying here,’ she laughed, trying to cut short the question.
‘We drink at 18 in the UK — but I’m actually legal to drink now in the US. It’s worth mentioning — I’m 21!’ she added, joking: ‘Yes I have been drunk once in my life, as everyone does. I’ve got drunk, I’ve been drunk and I’ll bow to that.’
