Emma Watson has finally opened up on being frontrunner for the role - but will she take it? Find out what she has to say...
When Emma Watson was reported to be the frontrunner to play Anastasia Steele in the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey movie last week, the Hollywood rumour mill went into overdrive. Is she suited for the part? And would she even take it?
Yesterday the Harry Potter actress swiftly put an end to talk, revealing she’s yet to hear from movie execs, or even read the book!
Speaking in an interview with to Entertainment Weekly, Emma Watson swiftly shot down talks she’s set to play Anastasia Steele in E.L.James’ steamy Fifty Shades of Grey adaptation, adding she’s definitely not attached – yet.
‘I haven’t read the book, I haven’t a read a script, nothing,’ she said.
‘There are so many movies you become attached to when I’ve literally never even received a phone call.
Comparing the Fifty Shades of Grey speculation to rumours she was involved in the Stieg Larsson trilogy back in 2012, Emma said: ‘It was the same way with The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo – I never even saw a script!’
‘I told them just because there are 60 articles on the Internet doesn’t mean it’s any less true than if there are three or four.’
Other actresses reported to be in the running for the Fifty Shades of Grey role include Twilight actress Kristen Stewart, newcomer Katie Cassidy, and – strangely – Angelina Jolie
Yesterday it was revealed the actress has been whizzing through the erotic novels during breaks in filming new flick Maleficent, and has her heart set on a role in the film.
‘Angelina went out and bought herself a copy, thinking she’d love a part in the hot topic on everyone’s lips at the moment,’ one insider revealed.
And now? ‘Ange is dead-set on a major part. She’s up for the challenge,’ the source added.
