The music star - who performed at Princess Diana's funeral - has revealed he will 'probably' perform at the royal nuptials

Music maestro Elton John has let slip he will 'probably' be performing at Prince William and Kate Middleton’s royal 2011 wedding, set to be held in April at Westminster Abbey.

The star – who was a favourite of Princess Diana’s - performed a special version of hit Candle in the Wind for the first and only time at her funeral, in 1997.

And now it’s thought he could be in line to perform for royalty again, but this time on an altogether happier occasion.

When asked about performing at the royal nuptials, Elton replied: ‘I probably am.’

But the eccentric singer soon realised his mistake, and covered up the slip-up by joking: 'I’ll probably be busking outside.'

It’s also been revealed Prince William has asked Earl Spencer to give a special speech about Princess Diana during the royal wedding day.

It’s thought Earl Spencer’s daughter – and William’s cousin – Lady Kitty Spencer is even being considered as one of Kate’s bridesmaids for the special day.

‘Kitty said Charles Spencer and William have a good, solid relationship and it’s very important for William that his mother is at his wedding, so to speak,’ a friend of the Spencer family revealed. ‘He made the point by giving his mother’s ring to his future bride.’
