Downton Abbey has added another award nod to its array of nominations for 2013

Downton Abbey's cast and creators clearly weren’t satisfied with winning a Golden Globe last year as the show racks up yet another nomination, this time for Best Drama at the National Television Awards.

PICS! NATIONAL TV AWARDS 2012

Following on from Michelle Dockery’s (Lady Mary) lead as she makes the Golden Globes 2013 shortlist for Best Actress in a TV Drama, the hit series has now made an appearance on another awards roll call.

It goes up against Merlin, Doctor Who and Sherlock in the Best Drama category and will need to secure the public vote to ensure there’s another glittering gong in its already-full trophy cabinet.

Also on the list is the show that turned us all into master cake bakers, (and eaters) The Great British Bake Off, which made the nominees in the Best Factual Entertainment show.

The most hotly anticipated battle will be between the talent shows as The X Factor, The Voice, Britain’s Got Talent, Strictly Come Dancing and Dancing on Ice fight it out to be crowned top of the box.

The National TV Awards, hosted by Dermot O’Leary, will take place on 23 January at the O2
