Excitement reached fever pitch as David Beckham touched down to begin his role as ambassador to the Chinese Super League
David Beckham caused chaos as he touched down in Beijing yesterday, greeted by hoards of screaming fans.
Excitement reached fever pitch at the sports star arrived in the Chinese capital to begin his new role as ambassador to the Chinese Super League.
The post will include attending football matches and visiting clubs to help promote the game to children. This comes after the Chinese football league was dogged by a match fixing scandal last year.
‘I am helping in the education for young kids and young aspiring footballers,’ Beckham said of his appointment in a recent press conference.
‘It’s as simple as that. I am not here to clear up anything. I am here to educate the children and give them a chance of becoming professional footballers.’
It’s thought Mr B’s four-day trip will including training sessions with local children and visits to football clubs in Beijing, Qingdao and Wuhan.
Dressed in jeans a shirt, jumper and cashmere coat Becks looked cool as a cucumber – despite the obvious scrum – as he signed autographs for fans in the city.
This comes just hours after he made an appearance in Berlin, where he launched his H&M underwear range.
He sure is one busy man!
