Craig David Is Back, And This Is Why It’s So, So Brilliant

So this is where Craig David has been hiding...

We have amazing news for Craig David fans: the man is well and truly back. After making a well-received comeback on the X Factor stage, he has now signed a record deal with Insanity Records through Sony Music and is working on his first album in six years.

‘Throughout my career, my management team have had my back and been by my side, helping me develop my ideas and bring them to fruition,’ Craig said. ‘Together with JEM Artists, I’m really excited to be working on my new album with such quality people at Insanity, Speakerbox and Sony Music UK, whose enthusiasm and willingness to back me and my music is incredible!’

We can’t wait for him to produce some great tunes – although the 90s classics Fill Me In, 7 Days and Rendezvous will definitely be hard to beat.

A couple of weeks ago, we brought you the viral video of the 90s smoothie covering Justin Bieber’s Love Yourself for a BBC1Xtra Live Lounge session. And he twisted the hit into a UK garage track of vintage standard.

So obviously, the world went mad for it with fantastic reactions on Twitter, Facebook and beyond. ‘I feel like I’m in 1999, so sick!’ commented one fan underneath the video on YouTube, while others added ‘Craig, you can fill me in any day’ presumably while Blu-Tacking their yellowing posters back onto walls.

Watch Craig David performing Love Yourself in the video below…

But after over a decade in semi-hiding, he’s returning to music with new single When The Bassline Drops. And the best bit of all? We get to revisit 7 Days, Re-Rewind, Fill Me In, and all the other garage gems, right now…
