Christine Bleakley opens up on Daybreak failure
Daybreak star Christine Bleakley has opened up on the failing show for the first time, revealing she’s still learning the ropes, and has been hurt by the massive backlash.
In her first interview since taking up a spot on the famous morning sofa, the star spoke of the challenges of launching the new show, adding that it came as an ‘absolute shock’ shock when she was sacked by the BBC, for trying to delay a new contract.
Talking of the ‘teething problems’ that have seen ratings sink to as low as 500,000 during the Daybreak’s first six months, she added that they are still working through many of their problems.
‘There are things that don't work, and we'll change them. We have the most magnificent view, but at 6am it's pitch black. We're learning as we go,’ she said.
‘We have to earn our right to be the morning choice.’ Christine also revealed her hurt at the harsh comments the team have received since the show’s launch.
‘People say they have a thick skin but we're all human. You do get upset,’ she said.

But it seems new beau, footballer Frank Lampard has been helping her through the tough times.
‘Frank understands. He's been in the spotlight for years and just gets on with it,’ she said.
