Christian Bale visits victims of Colorado Batman shooting

The Dark Knight Rises star took time out to visit some of the victims of last week's tragedy

Christian Bale, the star of The Dark Knight Rises, visited the victims of the Colorado shooting on Tuesday.

Bale spent two hours chatting to hospital staff and the injured patients who had been at the midnight screening of the Batman movie in Aurora when an armed man burst in opened fire and killed 12 people.

Christian Bale’s visit was captured by The Denver Channel, which had posted photos of the actor at the hospital on its Twitter page.

The 38-year-old star had previously released a statement expressing his sadness at the terrible tragedy.

He said: ‘Words cannot express the horror that I feel. I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them.’

James Holmes, 24, who is suspected of hurling gas canisters and shooting up the cinema in Aurora, Colorado, appeared in court for the first time on Monday.

He is being kept in solitary confinement at the Arapahoe County Detention Center.
