Cheryl Cole played cheerleader to pal and Girls Aloud bandmate Kimberley Walsh as she sat front row in the Strictly Come Dancing audience to support her bestie and tweeted a picture of herself giving Kimberley a congratulatory smooch after the show.

The Call My Name singer helped cheer Kimberley on to her highest-ever score to date on the show – a 34 for her Viennese Waltz with partner Pasha Kovalev – excitedly writing on her Twitter page: ‘She was AMAZING !!!!! Should have been all 9s if you ask me !!!! Lol #proud’

Although Kimberley and Pasha ended up in the bottom two, they were saved by the judges after their performance, which Darcey Bussell called ’emotive’ and ‘wonderful’ and Bruno Tonioli described as ‘achingly romantic.’

After the show, Cheryl, who looked smart in a sixties-style black dress with embellished collar details, finished off with an updo and red lipstick, posted a pic of herself planting a kiss on her bestie, captioned: ‘After show kisses.’

This isn’t the first time Cheryl has proven herself to be such a devoted friend and cheerleader for Kimberley. Back in May, Cole jetted back from the Cannes red carpet in time to see Walsh’s last performance in Shrek: The Musical.

Fans of the duo will be excited to hear there will be lots more Kim and Cheryl together in the near future: Girls Aloud confirmed that they’ve recorded a greatest hits album featuring four new tracks and will be embarking on a 12-date arena tour next year.
