L.A. Reid blabs about Cheryl appearing as a judge on US X Factor.

Cheryl Cole’s ongoing saga with US X Factor took a surprising turn yesterday – when record producer and confirmed judge L.A. Reid let it slip that she is to star alongside him on the show.

CHERYL COLE'S STYLE HIGHS AND LOWS In a conversation with Perez Hilton, he spoke about how The X Factor would differ from the already wildly popular American Idol.

Which is when he let this cat out of the bag: 'We’re gonna compete against American Idol just fine. I’m very confident. But along with Simon Cowell and Cheryl, I don’t know who the other judge is.'

Just to really get tongues wagging, Simon Cowell is refusing to comment either to confirm or deny the news.

The Geordie singer has been battling for a role in the American export of the hit ITV show for the past two months, with Cowell officially fighting her corner to network bosses at Fox.

Their main concerns? Her supposedly hard-to-understand accent and the fact that is relatively unknown in America.

Meanwhile, on this side of the pond, ITV boss Peter Fincham told The Mail on Sunday: 'The X Factor will be very new and very different from what we have seen before.'

No new judges are yet to be confirmed, but Simon looks set to have the best of both worlds – flying by private jet (paid for by ITV) between the UK and US shows, appearing on our screens on Saturdays and Sundays, and on American televisions on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Phew!

Apparently, Si was concerned about the fall in ratings if he left the UK show completely.

With all set to be revealed X Factor-wise this week, watch this space...
