Cheryl Cole proved yesterday that walking the Cannes red carpet isn't always a breeze.

The X Factor judge, who attended the 2014 Cannes Film Festival as a spokeswoman for L'Oreal Paris, made a stunning entrance to the Foxcatcher premiere on Monday night. But we're guessing she didn't realise she'd be battling the elements as she showed off her gorgeous dress.

The 30-year-old beauty chose a dramatic black Monique Lhuillier with a high-low hemline and a flowing skirt. Of course, the skirt was even more flowing by the fact that heavy winds were gusting through the Cannes as she made her festival debut.

Cheryl struggled to hold down the front of her dress as it was whipped up by the wind. But we have to say, she looked absolutely gorgeous throughout the struggle.

But Cheryl wasn't the only one being blown away on the red carpet. Jessica Chastain - who's in Cannes promoting her film, The Disappearance Of Eleanor Rigby - also made the mistake of choosing a flowing gown for the Foxcatcher premiere. Her elegant Elie Saab gown was easily whipped up in the wind, and she had to struggle to hold it down while posing for the cameras.

Of course, both ladies kept smiles on their faces despite the inclimate weather and managed to look absolulely lovely throughout their struggles - even if their perfectly crafted hairstyles did end up a little wind-blown.
