Britney Spears gives up custody of her kids
It’s been a bitter two-year battle, but Britney Spears’ custody fight has finally reached a conclusion – with the star deciding to hand over full custody to Kevin Federline.
The couple agreed a deal over sons Preston, 2, and 18-month-old Jayden, to avoid another court date next month.
Britney’s former husband Kevin is said to be ‘ecstatic’ but, his lawyer Mark Kaplan says: ‘He wasn’t out to get custody. Nobody could have anticipated the events that occurred.
‘This was a two-year journey that will be halted at a point that is good for these children.’
But the news isn’t as bad as it may seem for Britney, who lost custody of her sons in January after a series of breakdowns. The agreement allows her three visits a week from the boys, including two overnight stays, with the potential for more. If all goes well, she could see the boys roughly 40 per cent of the time, her lawyer, Laura Wasser, told the Associated Press.
This positive news comes as Britney’s career also appears to be on the up again. She is spending the summer working on a new album, and recently recorded a cameo video for Madonna’s latest world tour, Sticky and Sweet.
The pop star also looked fantastic last night in a sleek black dress at a charity bash in LA, which she attended with Jim Carrey and his girlfriend, Jenny McCarthy.
