Billie Piper saves the sinking style at TV Quick Awards

Ant and Dec reign supreme among field of fashion disasters at TV Quick Awards

The great and the good of the television world turned out for the TV Quick Awards last night – along with a double dose of style flops.

The night belonged to Ant and Dec after the Geordie duo cleaned up at the ceremony, taking home a hat trick of gongs, including Best Entertainment Show for Saturday Night Takeaway and an Outstanding Contribution award to mark 20 years on Britain’s TV screens.

The double act accepted their awards, saying what a ‘huge honour’ it was and that they ‘feel very privileged to work in telly’.

Eastenders was the runaway success story in the soap battle, winning three TV Quick trophies, while Coronation Street followed closely behind, taking two awards.

While the talented were successful, the fashion parade was an undeniable failure, with style disasters peppering the awards ceremony.

From ghastly prints (thank you Jane McDonald) to garish shades (Gillian Taylforth you know who you are), the red carpet witnessed a parade of fashion crimes.

Tango tans, gaping bodices and thigh-skimming hemlines were abundant, but one or two TV faces rose out of the sartorial ashes.

Billie Piper took the style crown in simple skinny black jeans and a cream boyfriend blazer. While The Apprentice finalist, Kate Walsh, chose an on-trend kaleidoscopic print dress and gladiator heels.
