Beyonce & Jay-Z file application to trademark Blue Ivy’s name?

The power couple want to patent their daughter's name

Beyonce and Jay-Z have reportedly filed an application to trademark Blue Ivy’s name.

It comes after several third parties have tried to use the baby’s name for their own business purposes.

Fashion designer Joseph Mbeh attempted to trademark ‘Blue Ivy Carter NYC’ in early January, while another person wanted to use ‘Blue Ivy Carter Glory IV’ to sell a line of perfumes.

According to the Washington Post, both these applications were denied because the US Patent and Trademark Office said that Blue Ivy was the name of a ‘very famous infant’ and that products bearing the name could wrongly imply approval by her parents.

It’s thought that Beyonce‘s company BGK Trademark Holdings will be granted a request to use the baby’s name in the future.
