Downton Abbey is set to offer up even more drama this Christmas, with bookies opening up bets on the ITV show's festive goings-on.

Bookmaker Coral aren’t giving Downton all the festive glory though, with Eastenders predicted to be the most watched show on Christmas Day.

With the death of Matthew Crawley’s character shocking audiences in last year’s special, the firm put even money that a main character is killed-off again. Which seems fair as another death seems unlikely from where we're sitting.

But all eyes are on Lady Edith Crawley with 1-2 odds that she’ll go into labour or get engaged. While 4-1 odds say Bates will get arrested for the murder of Lord Gillingham’s valet, while Mr Carson is 33-1 to propose to Mrs Hughes.

‘The Christmas special is sure to bring plenty of drama and punters are already predicting what’s in store for the Crawley family,’ said Coral’s Nicola McGeady.

‘Last year’s episode left viewers devastated when Lady Mary was left widowed and we reckon this year’s special will spell the end of the road for another loved character.’
