Raleigh Addington has quit to be by the hospital bedside of her wounded brother

Apprentice hopeful Raleigh Addington has left the show to be with his brother, who is suffering from a collapsed lung, brain haemorrhage and broken arms and legs following an explosion in Afghanistan.

Captain Ed Addington was wounded while this year’s Apprentice stars were preparing to be briefed for their second task.

Raleigh told the Metro: ‘I was contacted by the producer of the programme, who told me my mother was on the emergency number and I immediately feared the worst.

‘My mind was buzzing with all kinds of emotions – had Ed been killed or injured in Afghanistan?’

Raleigh went straight to the Birmingham hospital where his brother is being treated.

He added that Lord Sugar 'gave me a call after I left to make sure my brother and family were OK – it was great to hear from him.'

Lord Sugar told the paper: ‘Raleigh’s decision proves family should always come before business.’
