Kate Beckinsale stars in a new trailer for the upcoming film inspired by the Amanda Knox and Mereditch Kercher murder case.

The Face of an Angel, which also sees Cara Delevingne make her acting debut, is a move adaptation of the book Angel Face: Sex, Murder and the Inside Story of Amanda Knox by American journalist Barbie Latza Nadeau.

Michael Winterbottom directs the new film which stars Beckinsale as a journalist investigating the murder.

German actor Daniel Bruhl plays a struggling film-maker who travels to Italy to write a film based on the journalist's findings.

Knox and Rafaele Sollecito were freed from prison in 2011, after being cleared of their earlier convictions over the killing. On January 30 the original 2009 convictions were reinstated by a court in Florence.

Lawyers for the pair have since said they intend to take an appeal to the highest court.

Following reports also suggest Winterbottom has no plans to change his film in light of the court proceedings, with The Face of an Angel due for release later this year.

Cara Delevingne will play a young English girl named Melaine in the new film, which is currently in post-production.
