PICS! Before & after: Britney's airbrushed Candie's ads
By Sarah Karmali on Wednesday 14 April 2010
Britney Spears has boldly agreed for the original photos from her latest shoot for Candie's to be released alongside the final retouched copies.
And you've got to give it to her. The girl's brave.
BRITNEY SPEARS STYLE HIGHS & LOWS
Britney made the move in order to highlight the pressure so often put on women to look perfect, allowing us to see her for all un-airbrushed glory.
And comparing the images side-by-side, we can see exactly which little nips and tucks the Candie's team gave Ms Spears, before releasing the final ad campaign.
From the front-facing shot, it is clear that Britney's legs have been slimmed down considerably, with the final picture giving her computerised thighs and thinner calves, as well as a noticeably smaller waist.
The bruises from her right leg also appear to have been zapped, while her skin tone seems to have been brightened and evened-out.
Britney Spears" title="Before and After: Britney Spears" border="0">
The back-shot of the 29-year-old, shows equally dramatic alterations.
While the same trick has been applied to even-out her skin tone, Britney's whole body looks far more svelte and streamlined in the 'after' pic, in comparison to the 'before' shot.
While all traces of that pesky cellulite have been removed, to be replaced with entirely blemish-free skin, Britney's bum looks to have been replaced by an almost unrecognisable, perkier rear.

What do you think of the images? Is this a brave move for Britney? Let us know your thoughts in the comments box below!

The difference between the before and after shots is ridiculous. WHY did they feel the need to make her look so ridiculously Barbie like?
The funny thing is, I don't think she actually looks that bad in the original shots.
Good on her for being so brave.
Comment by Anna on April 14 10:01
Good for you, Britney. She looks great in the 'before' pictures and it's very refreshing for a celebrity to let the reality out into the public arena. Although, my cynical side, can also see this is a brilliant PR move, too!
Comment by Xanthe Jackson on April 14 10:21
Good on Britney for realeasing these. I think it's really bad the amount of airbrushing that has been done there was no need to do so much to her legs in the first picture - she looks perfectly healthy, and why shoot her from the back if they feel the need to re-touch so much, who'd look good in that pose anyway...
Comment by sophie on April 14 10:23
i think this was a great move. she doesn't even look bad in the original photos, but i can see why they airbrushed so much for a big ad. i am 22 and thin, but i would need to be airbrushed too!! my cellulite is probably worse than hers!
and this is great to show young people who worry about their bodies that no one is perfect, not even 'supermodels.' (or britney!)
Comment by lynn on April 14 10:42
She looks gorgeous in the originals anyway! It must really batter your self esteem to open a magazine and see that they gave you a whole new bottom half. i'd much rather see celebs for what they are rather than some ridiculous air brushed version.
Good on you Britney.
Comment by Terri on April 14 11:04
Well done, Britney!! there is nothing wrong with the before pictures and the after pictures is very unrealistic. Also who wants to look like a Barbie? again, well done Britney :-)
Comment by Annelie on April 14 12:27
Whats the big hoohaa about?
She looks better in the original shots and all the guys I work with agree her legs are just wrong in the airbrushed shots...
Comment by Andrea on April 14 12:28
I think she looks beautiful and far prefer the REAL Britney pictures.I wish all this airbrush Bull would stop and the size 0 stuff would stop and we could all get back to living in the REAL world!!
Comment by groovey on April 14 12:30
Another example of the media offering unrealistic images of how people should look. Good for her! the originals were fine anyway
Comment by jay on April 14 12:31
Brave girl indeed - someone needs to do it, and more often. Also shows how technically altered from the original, which was overlit and bleached the outlines. They've turned up the contrast button, or at least darkened the edges, in the, er, "finished" version...
Comment by Emma on April 14 12:31
Hahaha Shes had her camel toe airbrushed out!!! I agree she does look fine tho apart from the toe loool
Comment by Tara on April 14 12:32
Go Britney,
she is under so much pressure to always look perfect. What human being looks amazing all the time. She is a healthy curvy woman with children and we should celebrate that.
I think she looks great! If anything they could easily have put some make up on her legs to hide the bruises, just goes to show that they automatically head for the airbrush after a shoot anyway so they dont care what condition the original is in. This would dent even the highest self esteem.
Comment by Caz on April 14 12:35
I ABSOLUTELY prefer the originals, not so much brave to share them with us but sensible, clever, thought provoking, time for change!
Comment by Emma Thistleton-Smith on April 14 12:36
would've been even more refreshing if Candie's had the guts to use the before shots themselves and not the air-brushed ones !!!!!!!
And she does look good in them, there is nothing wrong with her figure at all, at least she looks nice and normal - just like the rest of the world out there!
Comment by judephf on April 14 12:44
I think she is more beautiful in the natural shots, Plus whats wrong with being how you should be! We all know that the pictures in Mags make us feel fat and unattractive about time normal pictures are revealed so we know that even Celebs get the problem areas its not just us! It difficult being a women at the best of times aleast appearance would not be one of them if then stopped airbrushing to create some sort of perfect that actually does not exsist!
Go Brit!!!!
Comment by Laura on April 14 12:45
I seriously think the pics before were better. She looks feminine and sexy.On the airbrushed ones she looks like a stick with plastic skintone.
Comment by Ania Brochen on April 14 12:47
Well done to you, she looks like a real woman bfore not some barbie like doll. It's a great idea to show us how much they change the celebrities for ads etc, once again well done Britney
Comment by Ciara on April 14 12:48
I think it is great some one is actually showing what they really look like. So many young girls aspire to look like celebraties it just goes to show their bodies aren't perfect and we shouldn't be so hard on ourselves. It would be a wonderful world if we could all airbrush ourselves to the shape we wanted to be!!!
Comment by Karen Arnold on April 14 12:48
I think britney looks fantastic in the orginal shots... the re-touched photos make her look plastoc and too skinny, thats not something girls should aspire to. She looks great as she is! good on you britney for being brave and proud of how you look!
Comment by kerry on April 14 12:50
The REAL Brit looks great, her legs are sexier. ok the blemishes detract from the swimsuit (after listening to the fashion industries comments, they want it to look perfect, blah, blah) but her natural shape is way better and I don't think that detracts from the swimsuit she models, if fact she looks more obtainable.
Comment by kc on April 14 12:53
And people wonder why we have body image issues. The advertisers do not allow us to see "REAL" bodies. We strive for perfection when perfection is not a reality.
Comment by Parth Eubanks-Leach on April 14 12:57
I am so happy to see a major celebrity happy with who she is, after years of trying to measure up to celebrity idols it's so refreshing to see that human is beautiful. Well done Britney!!!!
Comment by Rachel on April 14 12:58
I think she is amazing for doing this, she has gone way up in my estimation, alls u see now is perfect, often sexualised images everywhere u look, and with kids, i worry about what the world be like for them, so well done britney, im very proud of you and hope more will follow. Also i think she looks brilliant in the pre-airbrushed photos anyway.
Comment by KELLY on April 14 12:59
Agreed, she looks fabulous natural. We don't do any of ourselves a favour by going along with "idealised" pictures of women, or poring over pictures looking for things to criticise. Imperfections make us human.
Comment by Annie on April 14 13:02
I wish that I looked as good as the before shot!
Comment by melody on April 14 13:07
Bravo Britney. Let's hope more intelligent women do this. Get away with airbrushing - anyone looks good with it, what are those women (and men) achieving? Nothing. Britney is fab how she is - & that is the inspiration, not seeing what you could look like if you paid someone to airbrush you - what achievement is that.
Comment by Michelle on April 14 13:19
I think she neednt bother with the airbrushing and be proud she has got her body back to normal
Comment by Val on April 14 13:20
I love Britney for this! It's really good to know that even celebrities with their money and time for cosmetic surgeons, personal trainers and dieticians look like normal people. Woohoo!
Comment by Suzanne on April 14 13:23
I also notice that her face has been slimmed down slightly but to be honest, it looked better before. What is the point of using real people at all if they are going to be changed? Why not just use "model clones"? She actually doesn't have any knees in the after shots. Are knees now considered ugly too? Totally rediculous. Good on Britney for making a stand.
Comment by Tania on April 14 13:26
It's so good that Britney feels confident enough to show the pictures in their true state. There are thousands of young girls who feel they are failures because they do not live up to the perfect images shown in magazines and the reality is that they are not failures.
It's great to see such a stand being taken by someone who is very influential.
Comment by Sue on April 14 13:31
Nothing wrong with the original photos, she is looking good
Comment by Di on April 14 13:32
Great PR move..but well done all the same..
But..she looks fine anyway so there wouldnt have been a prob..and we all know that Brit has had weight issues for years and do not forget...she is getting older too..cant look 17 forever..like she did with J Timberlake ..who is also looking good but older..so what....its not Fairyfantasyworld..
Comment by anon on April 14 13:33
I think she looks fabulous. Obviously the lighting is not the best, but if she were walking along the beach you just KNOW heads would turn (and not just because she's Britney). Fabulous first step in the fight against distorting women's self-image!
Comment by Naomi on April 14 13:39
The very reason I don't buy magazines to cheer myself up is because models of perfection like this make me feel very 'less than'. She does look fab before and real. I am thin too and I have horrid celulite - it can really get me down! How sad is that. But good on her for releasing these before picks. Let's see MORE real photos!
Comment by Dollymouse on April 14 13:48
They've just made her look more like a Barbie doll in the touched up pics. She looks fine in the original pics and I think it's very brave of her to show herself as she really is and you know what, she looks gorgeous au naturel!
Comment by Helen on April 14 13:52
I prefer the real look anyway she has a better shape than the airbrush version , thats the kind of achievable look young girls should aspire to, not a look that they're never going to achieve. Top marks for you Britney!
Comment by Bev on April 14 14:06
I am not a great fan of Britney Spears I must say however if those pictures stop one young girl getting an eating disorder Britney has done a fantastic job.
I add my thanks to her as I am now feeling much happier with my own derrier!
Shame on other celebrities who aren't as courageous!
Comment by Michelle on April 14 14:10
Britney is always dancing so she is obviously going to have big calf mussels how rediculous!
Comment by sophie on April 14 14:19
she look fantastic i rather see who in non airbrushed pictures..!!! x
Comment by Emma..x on April 14 14:22
I think she looked fab in the pictures before the airbrushing. Good for her releasing them
Comment by Shelley on April 14 14:26
that isnt too bad, I have actually seen worse done to pictures while being tought the craft, or art more like, you can actually completely change someones bone structure or even relace shoes in a completely different way or turn someone a different skin colour or just apply make up.
Would also like to say the photographer isnt very good as they had to fix some of his lighting mistakes in the after works as well as a lot of what they did in photoshop could have been achieved by simple lighting and some sticky tape.
Comment by sylvia on April 14 14:26
Now I realise you can never reach such perfection trying to be like magazine ads, this has made my day ;) good move britney!
Comment by Sophie on April 14 14:34
Thank u Britney! So brave but I think u look fantastic in original shots! Well done u!
Comment by Louise on April 14 14:42
Good on her and shame on them - no wonder so many people suffer with self-image problems when we never get to see reality.
Comment by Deena on April 14 14:43
Why is she 'brave'? At what point do we see people's bodies as beautiful and powerful instead of something to be apologised for? She's not brave, she's normal. More of us need to be proud of being normal.
Comment by caroline on April 14 14:44
This is an absolute breath of fresh air! PR stunt or not it is so important for women and young girls to realise that nobody is perfect despite what the media tries to tell us. To have an icon like Britney stand up and proudly say "This is me & here is what I actually look like" and still look stunningly beautiful in her natural skin is a real breakthrough! Well done Miss Spears - big respect!
Comment by Niki Davies on April 14 14:56
Well done Britney, I admire you 100% for doing this.
Comment by Mandy on April 14 15:02
go on britney we love you!!!
Comment by nikki sixx on April 14 16:08
I would change bodies with her anyday along with millions of others. She has had children as well. These photos are realistic she isnt a 16 year old dressed in a schoolgirl costume anymore. If they want a younger body then they should photograph one!
Comment by Katy on April 14 16:17
Good for Britney and she has had a few kids!
Nothing wrong with that body at all!
Comment by Darina on April 14 16:30
GOOD FOR YOU Britney! And all the others who do this. If nobody was airbrushed - then there'd be little need for young females to starve themselves half to death in a bid for beauty!
Comment by Gail on April 14 16:49
She still looks great, I would hope that all mums looked that good after two lovely babies. Good for her.
Comment by Lo on April 14 17:26
Wow. Well done Britney. So brave and so poigniant.
Not brave because she looks bad in the originals, quite the opposite, but brave because she has dared to take a stand and expose the tyrrany we women are victim to at the hands of the advertising & media, even though that same machine is her 'employer' too.
More power to her for it!
Comment by Imogen on April 14 17:38
It's important for women to see how much work is done on the pictures of supposedly 'perfect' bodies, to drive home the point that this is an unattainable ideal and while they're nice to look at, not to worry about not being able to look just like them--the person in the pictures doesn't really look like them either!
Comment by Viola on April 14 17:55
Huge kudos to you Britney, you show the world how great you and people in general can look just by being natural. Defy the "norm", gotta love it!
Comment by tammi on April 14 18:47
The first shot is just bad lighting. Its like they didn't put any effort in because they knew they were going to photoshop it.
Comment by matthew Burgos on April 14 19:06
...ps..bet I know which one the guys will like...its not the skinny one..good for Britters...
PR works all ways.....well done...she has a normal curvy figure ...and I dont get the comment above from Sophie re the back pic..why cant u look good photo d from the back..lots of stars have done over the years??
If Im right she also said a lot about herself in one of her songs Piece of Me...shes a girl!! good for her..says what she thinks..
Comment by anon on April 14 20:08
I don't think that this is about bravery given she looks perfectly normal in the "original" photographs.
What she has done is make a statement that it's completely acceptable to have a less than perfect body. Lets see if other celebrities and magazines follow her AND if she sticks to it!!
Comment by NJM on April 14 20:44
good on Britney, I wonder how many other celebrities would ahve dared be so brave. After two children, she looks fab anyway, but to highlight just how unrealistic she looks when retouched is a great move, maybe we,ll all relax a little more and stop obsessing over something we will simply never acheive!
Comment by melanie heslop on April 14 20:48
I think evening out her skin tone is the biggest difference, although she has had a wee bit skimmed off legs & butt, she's not that far from looking like the air-brushed pics!
Comment by angelicjulie on April 14 21:08
I think the before pic is great. she is so pretty that she does not need to airbrush. Well done. I think more celebs should follow suit. Way to go Britney. Girl power. :) Cat
Comment by Catriona on April 14 21:10
I agree with Xanthe in particular but maybe thats because I am a PR person too lol. However I think its great to show people just how much the pictures in magazines are manipulated, its great to see before shots to how people particulary women that these body ideals are not real and that we are all normal.
Comment by roopa on April 14 21:26
Good for you Britney!
She looks real in the first pictures and there's nowt wrong with that, why can't we celebrate our bodies for what they are rather than striving for a so-called 'perfect' body which no one will ever achieve. I think more advertisers and magazines should resist air brushing models in favour of a more natural look.
Comment by Sam Bayton on April 14 21:39
AT LAST!!! REAL BODIES SHOWN-shock horror lol. It makes my blood boil that us gorgeous ladies feel so inferior because of these airbrushed, ironed-out and thinned images. It's NORMAL to have cellulite and slightly bumpy bits here and there! Especially after having a couple of kids the VAST majority of women won't have washboard tums, and I'm so happy a huge celeb like Britters has started to show what's real-all we need now is for every celeb to do the same...Let us all give ourselves a break cos we've been trying to fit an ideal that isn't even real :0)
Comment by Nina on April 14 21:42
Good on Britney for releasing these pics. She looks fantastic in the before pics!!, I think they've made her a bit too slim, She's got lovely legs and hips how they are before. Evening out the skin tone and getting rid of the blemishes is good. But changing the whole shape and size of her body?? No wonder celebrities get so critical of their looks, When flaws are pointed out so much, and flaws that aren't even there.
Comment by Lauren on April 14 21:50
That made me even more proud of being a Britney fan!
showing that she is good with her body, and she is right she has an amazing body :)
Comment by Patricia on April 14 22:13
fair play to her, any man would be happy with the real britney after seeing these photos, i think a maximum level of airbrushing should be allowed in publishing as it makes all 'real' women feel inferior comparing themselves against airbrushed shots, its time for people to accept each other for the way they really are and not some stupid unattainable fantasy.
Comment by irene on April 14 22:23
I hope lots of young girls see these pictures and notice how good she looks in the 'before' pictures - I only wished I looked as good as this, even airbrushed!!!!
Comment by Fiona Bumpstead on April 14 23:20
well done Britney! It gives dimpled, wobbly people - with blemishes!! - like me, the confidence to feel better about our bodies and to accept that silky smooth is not always natural.
Comment by sheila B on April 15 00:06
Kudos for her. I hope every one understands now, and sees, how anyone can be made to look flawless. Hats off to you Britney

Comment by diana on April 15 00:09
Is it me or does Britney look a lot more sexy in the natural pics??!!
I've never been a fan of Britney, as she is way too barbie-like for me, but seeing these natural shots it actually gives me a chance to like her!!
Natural pictures remind me of magazines from the 80's, when air brushing didn't exist yet! Natural is so much more sexy as you can obviously see that you are looking at a real person, and so you could almost imagine what it's like being with or talking to that person.
The airbrushed pictures are an absolute joke, making her look doll-like. They took away all the shadows from the original pics, which is what is supposed to give three-dimensional depth to an image! How bizarre and what a shame!!
Also, she has no curves left, and no knees??!!!
I definitely believe that the first pics are really what people want to see and would buy! It is so much more sexy for men to see a real, and curvy, woman, and it is so much more likable for women!!!
It is so sad that the standards of perfection have changed so incredibly much over the last ten years, and it doesn't set a good example for our children.
To be honest I am surprised that all the artists suffering from being airbrushed to an unrecognisable state have allowed it for so long. If I had to appear in pictures like that I would make an agreement beforehand to keep things more natural, or simply refuse to be photographed!
It's humiliating to be changed to a doll!
Comment by fiona on April 15 04:54
They've also made her taller, if only you could do this in reality!
Comment by Anon on April 15 09:16
Fair play to Britney, but, yes this is a fantastic PR move!!!!
I feel that all celebrities should show their untouched pictures because it is great for young to see and think, ahh so she does have a normal body. Nobody looks like those airbrushed photos and young girls need to know this. There are so many young girls and boys are striving to have that perfect body, but it is never going to happen. I am so happy Britney has done this and I feel more celebrities should follow...
Comment by Sabina Brown on April 15 10:03
Thank u Britney!!!
At last a brave celebrity to actually show her real pictures.I have to say u r more brave than I could ever b,especially knowing how much presure u r under to look always perfect.I salute u.
Comment by elz on April 15 10:16
I thinkg Britney should get an award for this. It was extremely brave of her and she should be very proud of herself. Loved Britney before this absolutely adore her now. Britney is a Legend xx
Comment by Tanya Martin on April 15 10:36
I think this is a brilliant move from Britney. It just proves that these top stars have the same as the rest of us & i agree with why she's doing it. There is so much pressure for women to look good i think we all look fab in our own way. Thank you Britney for drawing attention to this matter I think you look fab with out all the alterations I think all the stars should take a page out of your book. Good luck too you x
Comment by Karol on April 15 11:17
I think she looks great in the before pictures. I commend her on how brave she is for this. It will be completely opened to scrutiny from those that are just jealious. Good on ya Brit!
Comment by Lisa on April 15 12:08
well done,Britney!
Comment by caro on April 15 12:23
Finally someone is showing who they truly are, and looking good while being natural! Good for you Britney, lets see if other celebrities can follow your lead.
Comment by Mia on April 15 12:30
Good for Britney, what a brillaint refreshing change! this one thing will go further to help all women/girls who feel inferior ( most of us that is) to get a grip on reality and see how glossy mags dupe us.
Comment by clair jarvis on April 15 13:23
It's good that she has done these. She doesn't look particularly rough in the before pics anyway she just looks normal.
Kelly Brook also allowed some before pics to be published in The Times afew weeks ago and they were a revelation. She is not immune to gravity!
Comment by Katy on April 15 13:31
I think Britney looks fabulous in the original photos, she looks natural and womanly, which is the exact image we should be promoting and supporting!! Quit with the American Barbie look!! Also cellulite is something everyone has! The reason we are obsessed with it now is because some idiot gave it a name!! It has always been there, even before that idiot money making doctor named it!! Love your body!!
Comment by Ashlea on April 15 13:45
More "celebs" should follow her lead and let young girls see what they really look like, like a normal women! There's nothing wrong with a bit of cellulite or uneven skin tone and i'm glad Britneys leading the way.
Comment by Denise on April 15 14:57
What a wonderful role model Britney is for doing this. I am sure that I won't be alone in thanking Britney, from the bottom of my heart, for showing young girls how magazines/ the media adulterate images. Britney looks fantastic in the 'before' images. I hope that other celebraties will follow suite and show young girls a much healthier approach to self-image.
Comment by Fiona on April 15 16:07
I didn't actually notice the difference. It was only when I read what they'd done that it became clear. Why bother?
Comment by joan on April 16 00:19
I dont know what all the fuss is about - i think Britney looks fabulous and it doesnt matter about the stupid airbrush pictures because she looks absolutely fantastic au naturale! Well done Britney you are forever a star.
Comment by Hilary on April 16 00:42
May she be the first of many real women to understand the deep and lasting damage being unnecessarily afflicted on women of ALL ages, shapes and sizes by the insidious distortion of the female form. As mother of a 16 year old, instead of quietly growing in confidence about her amazing young body, my daughter has been beseiged by images on tv and in magazines that have literally ruined her young life... her talk is of needing "boobjobs, leg extensions, teeth whitening, botox when older " etc.
The list of potential change seems endless, and POINTLESS. As a teenager, I remember feeling that quiet excitement of becoming the young woman that NO OTHER WOMAN was going to be....
Now,young women are brainwashed to give up on such ideals and have their vision literally distorted by images that require standardisation not only in their appearance, but also in their aspirations, hobbies and interaction with young men and all other human beings.
So thank you Britney and the publishers, for proudly allowing images of your real shape to be shown alongside the artifcial ones. May this be the first of many such steps back towards a healthy, more nurturing regard for the sensitivity of our young.
Comment by Mandy Voisey on April 16 09:46
Brittany: good on you girl, you're more beautiful in the raw. Because that is you, unadulterated.
In the film Shirley Valentine there is a line: "ohhh, he just kissed my stretch marks!" seeing this film when I was going through adolescence helped me not mind my stretch marks, and I never have, I have been almost proud of them as a mark of growth etc. I hope Brittanys actions will help others accept and love their bodies in the same fashion.
Once again: good on you girl! :D
Comment by Helen on April 16 11:56
I think she looks gorgeous!!! We should show our natural image, and not some fake advertise!!! Let's go back to Marilyn Monroe, Betty Page, tehy were so beautiful, and they had a little belly, they had a little cellulite, they meat on them, and to this day everyone still thinks they're super hot!!! So yes Britney!!!!
Comment by alley on April 16 16:06
Brilliant! Well done Britney!! This shows teenagers just like me, just how much EVERYONE is edited! This makes me feel more normal seeing Britney naturally. Fabulous, thank you Britney. Such a help and inspiration. xxx
Comment by GemmaLouise on April 17 00:09
Go Britney! So so pleased she has allowed the original pictures to be published! She looks normal, natural and perfectly healthy without all the airbrushing....maybe more celebs should have the gutts to do this too and show girls & women that the airbrushed look is not the norm! :)
Comment by jo on April 17 00:15
It's great to see more and more celebrities rebelling against the evil airbrush, and I have to agree too, Britney looks amazing before the image doctoring. In our media-impressionable society people need to be shown that the perfection they are constantly bombarded with doesn't really exist.
Well done Britney!
Comment by ana lucia on April 17 00:55
I feel a lot better about the cellulite on my bottom half- and I'm only 20! Nobody's perfect after all :) Thank you Britney and thank you marieclaire.co.uk
Comment by Hannah on April 17 00:55
she looks great! more natural,i don't think magazines should be allowed to do airbrushing to such an extent,as this is adds to young girls trying to achieve the "perfect" body which obv doesn't really exsist
Comment by aileen on April 17 01:45
You've got to love her for doing this, although now we know she isnt perfect but we have to admire her for making the rest of us feel at ease to know she isnt as perfect as pictures make out, nevertheless she is perfect.
Comment by Nina on April 17 02:30
i thought they did make her loook VERYY barbie like aswell, you can really see the difference with her chapped heels and bruises on the legs. but in all fairness it did make her look good, and her bum much more perkier, some may not agree, but if you can why not? i dont see airbrusing as that big a deal, because as she was allowesd to release the un airbrushed ones, it may have been just to make herself feel better. but nice one britneyy :)
Comment by lol on April 17 03:35
the airbrush picture is ridiculous, if they change it so much why even bother having a photo shoot, they could just manipulate the same photograph over and over again. no wonder woman feel insecure in themselves if every one should ideally look like a barbie doll according to the 'airbrushers'
Comment by lauren b on April 17 03:54
Britney looks great and admire her for doing this.
Think ad companys should stop doing so much airbrushing on models shapes, different on blemishes and bruises etc but let people see that these people are human and not the perfect images that is portrayed to the young public, especially all the 8 year old and up who are perfectly normal but think they have to be slimmer to be accepted.
Comment by carol on April 17 06:19
Brave? How dramatic! She looks beautiful without the airbrushing. No need for any bravery! The media's vision of 'beautiful' is absolutely insane and abnormal. The only thing it does is make women obsess over the minutest bodily detail. Thanks for this Brtiney! :)
Comment by Fran on April 17 07:54
she looks great without the air-brushing! go britney!
Comment by claire on April 17 08:32
Well done to Britney!!!!!!!!!!! I think that her brave move has definitely inspired young girls to re-think that being skinny is a good thing! Good on britney!
Comment by Grace on April 17 08:35
Not only brave, but honest too. Good on her, I say. It's about time someone had the gumption to show our young generation that it's all about camera trickery and illusion.
If it only helps one child understand they don't have to be body perfect, then she will have succeeded.
Let's just hope others decide to be as courageous as her.
Bravo Britney. Well done!
Comment by Penny on April 17 08:36
i think britney has done the right thing skin changes over the years, i reckon it's something we should be exposed to, try telling me that madonna's legs look the same as they did when she firt started out! i defininately prefer her torso in the before, i reckon that if they are so desperate to hide the 'unsightly bits' put her in an outfit that disguises them but stil is sexy, many companies seem to forget that is possible. britney obviously still has a slim torso but they've covered it up! tbh they could have put her in a bikini top and floaty knee length skirt or skintight 3/4 length leggings and had the same impact without the need to airbrush. isn't this what gok wan is always trying to tell us, make the most of what we have, skim what we don't want to show? meh sorry rant over. i reckon this is a good move to show that even celebs aren't 'perfect' good on ya britney!
Comment by meg on April 17 08:46
I think she looks amazing in the before pics. She has had two children so she should be proud of her body. I've just had a baby and wished I look as good as she does.
Comment by Cheryl on April 17 08:49
These are awesome images of Ms.Britney, all natural untouch with all her natural beauty...She remains beautiful in all she does in showbiz.
Comment by RainMan on April 17 08:51
What was wrong with the originals? She looked the perfect role model - REAL!
Comment by Jenna on April 17 09:06
well done Britney. Britney looks fantastic in the before pics anyway. More celebs should do this i would rather see the original celeb than the airbrushed one. everyone has blemishes and it is great to see that celebs are no different. go Britney i hope others follow in her non airbrushed footsteps.
Comment by dawn on April 17 09:10
I think it is a great idea for Britney to do this, proving she is again at peace with herself after all the turmoil she has been through! And I think it is fine to remove the bruises from her legs but she has a great fit figure and it was wrong of them to slim her down, not all of us want to be stick thin, I love being a sporty girl and Britney is the same, nothing wrong with making the skin look good, it is an ad campaign but definately should have left her figure the way it was!!!! So good for you Britney at letting us see the real you, Go girl!
Comment by Mari-Clare on April 17 09:13
I love that she is so brave !! I am the same age as her so this means a lot to me to realise that we do not look that much different really !
I only more celebs had her courage to set an example !!
Comment by claire louise on April 17 09:20
We all know that airbrushing and alterations happen with these celeb photos. It must be tough to be continuously scrutinised. Something like this helps us identify with her as a real person. All i can say is that she looks amazing in the before pictures, and again, good for you Britney!
Comment by Sam on April 17 09:44
I really think the original pictures are better. She is in great shape and the air brushed version just makes her body look wierd. Who has a body like that? I can see the reason to even the skin tone, but even then the original was fine. Its insane to keep altering pictures so that young and impressionable people feel the need to contantly look better/slimmer when the truth is that no one really looks like that!
Comment by Sarah on April 17 09:46
I think its rediculous that they feel the need to airbrush britney to look like some perfect barbie doll type when in actual fact its sending the wrong message out to young girls everywhere making them think that its not right if you have a few wobbly parts on your body or some cellulite its life and everyone is going to be different nobody can be perfect also britney looks gorgeous in the before pics there is nothing wrong with having curves
Comment by Sarah on April 17 09:50
Fantastic! I think Britney looks great in her natural photos especially that, we must remember, she has had babies! The airbrushed version looks so artificial that sick. Quite honestly, I wouldn`t want to have such thin calves and such a ridiculous skin colour! So bless you Brit for, hopefully, straightening girls` view on the way they look. Oh, and I`m similar size as Brit 'before' and I love myself! So go on girls!
Comment by alice on April 17 10:00
What wrong with looking human these days??
Good on you Britney, you look fantastic without the CG rubbish.
Comment by Andrea on April 17 10:06
britney loves her body and wee should all to,i think its brilliant that shes doing this as it shows how real and down to earth she realy is.shes not a fake person or one who needs to slap the make up and all the weird clothes on to be.the one that many people look up to i love her and admire her strength as a person x go brit!!
Comment by stacey on April 17 10:24
when you look at the before and after you see the massive difference but the fact is.
if they never airbrushed her, she'd still look amazing. she looks like 1/2 the female population. she looks normal.
good on her ;D
Comment by shaunus on April 17 10:24
I think she looks fine in the first picture. Nobody is perfect but changing complete parts of someones body is ridiculous. I don't think there's anything wrong with evening out skintone and maybe removing bruises or scars but to give her a completely different shape to what she is unfair to both her and the people who are buying the magazine. We come in all different shapes and sizes and I think this should be celebrated more.
Comment by Cheryl Fenwick on April 17 10:32
I think that she looks absolutely amazing in the before shots and they really didnt need to alter them. i also think due to the amount of scrutiny shes been under in the past few years, she is incredibly brave to have done this and i for one commend her x
Comment by Sophia x on April 17 10:42
Britney is fine in the unaltered shots! Why it needs to be airbrushed to make her look different is ridiculous. No one looks like that in real life. I say we should give up airbrushing altogether! It's so fake.
Comment by Laurie on April 17 10:44
I'm glad someone has finally done this. Young girls (and older ones too) need to see the extent of the alterations of the pictuers they're holding up as an achievable standard of beauty. Good for Britney!
Comment by Rei on April 17 10:54
I think she looks better in the first shots, she looks human. I mean even wrinkles at her heel when bending her foot have been airbrushed out! And whose calves are that thin unless the rest of them is really skinny?
I think she looks in great shape in real life and they didn't need to airbrush. It makes me really angry that this is what women think they have to emulate and of course they can't....
Comment by Doreen Ritchie on April 17 10:57
This is brilliant. We need to see more before and after pictures like this in the press so we are more realistic about body image.
Comment by Lianna on April 17 11:19
Hat's off to Britney- despite all that's gone on in the past for her, that's a very public and mature point to make.
Comment by Salena on April 17 11:24
I have always had so much respect for Britney and i've always admired her. She looks absolutely stunning in the before pics, there is no way she needs airbrushing. We all love her just the way she is. Good for you Britney =) xx
Comment by Lindsey mahoney on April 17 11:39
Well we all wish we could do that our selves with every picture we take .. but were not as luck .. and britny doing this proves to alot of women that celebraties arent all perfect..beacuse at the end of the day there only human .. and yes britny is very brave beacus she would be expecting the newspapers to sluter her out how she looks .. but to me the airbrushed picture looks ssoo fake and doses cause alot of teenadgers to admier and wish they were like that them selves whish is not good on thier self estiem .. behing a teenadger my slef i now .. what girles my adge go thru and i come to think that every celebrity gets air brushed so were wishing to be the same as them wen they dont look that way themselves.. and i dont know who they can be role modles to women and teenadgers with they lie to themselves about who they realy are .. Britny i take my hat off to you welldone .. you were never my idole befor but after this you will always be .. i love you and i hope your life is going great you deserve it .. xx
Comment by katie on April 17 11:46
I don't think she needed to be made any thiner. She's not super skinny like some celebs, but she's not fat! She's a perfectley healthy weight, why change it? Just keep her how she is.
Comment by Naomi on April 17 11:48
In the before photos she still looks gorgeous. If I looked like that I'd be thrilled, and I'm sure a lot of the guys I know would be as well. XD If someone met her in reality they'd think she was beautiful but for some reason that's not ok for a celebrity. It's ridiculous.
Comment by Rowena on April 17 11:50
You go girl! About time someone in the spotlight showed that they are just like the rest of us! It's brave and it's also very endearing...you looking great Britney, just how you are!
Comment by Shell on April 17 12:17
she looks great in the original shots, she just looks unreal in the airbrushed version, I think this is great for girls who have low self image they should do this more oftern.
good for her.
Comment by Laura on April 17 12:18
This has always gone on in the media. Previously it was done by artists spending hours painstakingly retouching photographs, dodging, burning and airbrushing by hand. Now it is possible to manipulate images in a fraction of the time by using digital technology. It's nothing new. I bet even Da Vinci fudged his painting to make Mona Lisa look a bit more attractive. These images are fantasies, nothing more, and they always have been. It's the way people confuse fantasy and real life these days that is the sad and worrying thing.
Comment by Dee on April 17 12:20
I take my hat off to her, she looks great as she is, the media pressure for women to look "Perfect" is unreal, no wonder so many inc young adults and children suffer from eating disorders!
Well done Britney!
Comment by Tina on April 17 12:30
Britney, undoubtedly has a lovely figure anyway, but I am totally shocked to see how much a model for a clothing company/magazine, is actually air brushed! Fair play to the girl, and like some of you have said, she really doesn't look that bad 'untouched'. I think the touching up however, makes her look fake and I can see why so many people get body hang ups if this is what we're subjected to on an almost daily basis. I give Britney credit for this. I think it's a wake up call the public need to see what the process is behind every day adverts. She is definitely showing us that NO ONE (not even the famous) are perfect! You're body shape and figure is determined by your genes, and unfortunately, in most cases - we just have to accept what we've got and learn to love it!
Comment by Samantha on April 17 12:36
I think it is really inspiring for Brintey to let these pictures be seen especially as the press have made such huge deals about her size and image in the past. It's nice to know that she is like everyone else and that she wants to show people who do have issues with their image that she is just like them. She looks incredible in the before shots anyway. Well done Brintey for being a role model :)
Comment by Debra on April 17 12:36
I admire her alot after this.
Comment by Angharad Jones on April 17 12:37
SO GLAD YOU DID THIS! AS I WOMAN I STRIVE TO HAVE THE PERFECT BODY I SEE IN HOLLYWOOD! I AM A HUGE BRITNEY SPEARS FAN AND IM SO HAPPY TO SEE THAT EVEN SHE ISNT PERFECT!
Comment by ANONYMOUS on April 17 12:38
I think she looks great in the before shot!!
Why they felt the need to do anything more than even out her skin tone is ridiculous!!
The worlds gone mad!
Comment by grace on April 17 12:40
o my god britney the first shoots are beautiful, why the need for air brush at least the first pics are more natural more how a real woman should look. your beauiful britney fair play
Comment by leanna downey on April 17 12:46
She's so gorgeous! Why even bother airbrushing? Do magazines really think that we'll be terrified by the sight of real skin? Real hips? Real thighs?
I think it's awesome that she let people see both the real pictures as well as the airbrushed ones. There are so many people struggling with body image issues, beating themselves up because they don't feel they can meet a standard set by Photoshop.
Comment by Stephanie on April 17 12:51
I prefer the original shots. She looks better than most of us normal women, so good for her. Her legs look too thin in the airbrushed shot making her look out of proportion
Comment by Lisa on April 17 12:52
Good on Britney for releasing the non airbrished shots. The pressure on young girls to look like their favourite celebrities is mounting and the size zero is gradually getting more popular, but I think these pictures will show young girls that you can look amazing even if you aren't starving yourself.
I think Britney has done a fantastic job in promoting a good body image and the team at Candie should be ashamed of themselves. If they wanted someone extremely thin then they might as well have used a Barbie doll because that's the only girl in this world that is perfect.
Anyway, I think Britney looks amazing in the before pictures. Most women in the world would die to have legs like those! I'm 16 and I know that if I look like Britney when I'm older I'll be more than happy!
Comment by Brooke on April 17 13:04
I think it was really good of her to do this, I think she looks great in both the before and after shots, obviously with the first one being more realistic but still I think that the edited one looks great. Good on her for showing how much change they really do make when they edit it, giving teenage girls like me ideas that you have to be perfect , like the second imsge, I think that they should cut it down a bit ♥
Comment by Christy on April 17 13:07
Well done Brit!!! You make us all feel normal again! Regardless of whether its for publicity, its a brave move to put yourself up against the press for them to tear strips off you as the sane people amongst us know and appreciate its a cruel papparazzi world!! Most women would give anything to look like her in the un touched pics especially after having children! Women need to love themselves a whole lot more........me included!
Comment by Mel on April 17 13:09
I don't think it's brave of her, I do think it's ridiculous that this level of airbrushing is considered normal. They might as well just use computer generated images and stick her face on them!
Comment by Anna on April 17 13:12
Well Britney has done what should be done across the industry, and shows the real person not an artists impression. Why bother with photo shoots if they just want a cardboard cut out. Well done to her as far as I am concerned.
Comment by David on April 17 13:16
I personally think that she looks better and more natural in the un-airbrushed shots i mean its not as if we can professionally air brush pictures of ourself at home and i say good on her for letting these pictures out! :) alice, 15
Comment by Alice Victoria on April 17 13:21
I think this is brilliant! In a society where everybody seems obsessed with perfection this will show how the the use of airbrushing creates a false ideal that this is how women should look. I dont know about you but Britney looks damn good after having two children and has the body most women would die for, and who doesnt have cellulite? People especially young women look at these airbrushed pics and aspire to them, but whats the point of aspiring to something that isnt real, it will only lead to low self esteem and disapointment! Barbie has a great look but lets leave it on the plastic doll! Its about time celebrities shown themselves for what they really are...behind the fame and fortune they are still real people with blemishes, cellulite and lumps and bumps in places! I blame airbrushing for promoting low self esteem whilst it can improve certian aspects its also effectively saying you are not good as you are! I think if you could look at a pic & see a bit of cellulite I'd breathe a sign of relief that I havnt got to bust my a** down the gym or spend thousands on surgery to achieve a body of perfection...because as we can see nobody is perfect and thats not a bad thing! You go Britney you look stunning...Your a real women and thank-you for showing us the real you!
Comment by kerrie on April 17 13:25
good on her for being proud of herself and more people will respect that. kids are always told to be themselves what image does that show them. That to be accepted you have to be picture perfect? that life is all about looks? good on Britney she obviously understands the pressure that children and teenagers now face.
Comment by emma on April 17 13:38
Fair play to her she looks stunning in the originals anyway!
Good for her I say!
Comment by stelle on April 17 13:48
What a courageous woman for making such a (much needed) bold move. I'm 20 and often feel the pressure to be thinner and more toned, with the belief that it'll make me a better person/friend/girlfriend/student etc.
Britney looks great in the 'before' pics and I feel good about myself seeing proof that not everyone is perfect, even the perfect looking people!
Comment by Laura on April 17 13:51
I think she looks great in both!
Comment by Kimberly on April 17 14:06
I think this is AMAZING of her! I'm not a massive Britney fan, but it must've taken such guts to do this. I hope this gets really well publisised, so that everyone can see that the perfect image we see in campaigns and posters is actually a computer generated illusion. I know we all know this in theory, but it's completely different seeing the contrast for yourself. This is deffinately a good move for her :)
Comment by Christie on April 17 14:11
I think fair play to her we would rather see celebritys looking more like us "common" lot than to think they are fake. Also shes a mum of two,so we dont expect her to have the body of a godess, rather see them for what they really are than some fake airbrushed pinup.
Comment by Becca on April 17 14:12
I say good on her as I am Britney's age and i'm a mum, so i know how she feels but there is one difference, im not in the spotlight.BUT there is too much pressure for girls to look slim and beautiful like the stars when we actually know they get airbrushed .People and Women should be admired for who they are. well done BRITNEY .
Comment by susan on April 17 14:34
She looks amazing in the before pictures! the air brushing just makes her look abnormally fake! she's a stunner and she shouldnt be changed to show that!
She should be well chuffed to have a slim toned body like that :D
good on you britney! :D:D
Comment by Sammie on April 17 14:35
Both pictures are beautiful. The 'after' shot for obvious reasons but the 'before' shot even more so because it shows her 'flaws' and Britney still looks beautiful. It's easy to be beautiful if you look "perfect" but you are even more beautiful if you have "imperfections" that you wear with pride. You go Britney!!!
Comment by Lorraine on April 17 14:47
I definately think she looks better in the first picture and shes setting an amazing example. So what if she gets a lot of publicity from this, she deserves every bit of it! The second picture just looks unhealthy and as if shes had a lot of surgery to look like that. I agree that i would much rather see celebs for what they really are as well as so many of them are just so fake.
Comment by Jenny on April 17 14:58
I think Britney has been really brave and is one of the few celebs who have released un-airbrushed pics. Shes beautiful anyway and who doesnt have cellilite and blemishes? Shes a real woman, i dont see why they have to make everyone look plastic when its actually physically impossible. Well done Britney for being brave and honest. Shes gorgeoues without the air brushing!
Comment by Rachael-Louise on April 17 15:15
a brilliant message to all girls!
Comment by Beccy on April 17 15:28
I think this was great idea for all people to see that celebs are just human and look the same as us mere mortals.......no matter what anyone says she is a stunningly beautiful girl and doesn't need to be air brushed into an unrealistic looking doll like figure.......i think allot of young girls and women for that matter will breath a sigh of relief and these images will boost their confidence and maybe even be the first step in battling against illnesses like bulimia and anorexia, more celebs should follow in her footsteps !!!!!!
Comment by Marokkia on April 17 15:34
She actually looks better without the airbrushing
Comment by Kerry on April 17 15:45
she looks good in the original anyway, but it's so refreshing to see a real woman for what she is in reality - good on her =]
Comment by Jo on April 17 16:09
I think all airbrushing should be band it gives girls the wrong image of what real women are meant to look like its no wonder so many young girls and women hate there bodies its all fake and I don't see what's wrong with real photos of real bodies everyone has good and bad bits I think Britney is really brave its just a shame more famous people don't have the balls to do it
Comment by rach on April 17 16:11

Comment by shirls on April 17 16:13
i think Britney looks amazing in the before shot and didnt need to be airbrushed in the first place. Good on you Britney you look great. xx
Comment by Danielle on April 17 16:20
This is very a brave move from Britney.
Before she released these she had no idea what feedback she would get.
I think that there are obvious differences, but the original shots aren't that bad she just looks like any normal woman.
I salute her for being brave enough when other celeb's would deny being air-brushed at all!
Comment by erin on April 17 16:28
Good girl britney!! Your putting shame on all those celebrities that feel they have to airbrush their photos. All celebrites should follow your lead!!
Good on you! xxx
Comment by Gemma on April 17 16:45
britney's figure is fine and she's beautiful. all celebritys being airbrushed for ads and pictues are setting high standards for theirselfs as if we see them like this (fakly, perfectly airbrushed)when we see them in real life we see what they really look like, which probably wouldnt be bad for a normal woman however in comparisant to the airbrushed one they would look awfull as they would look normal instead of plastic and impossibly abnormally good looking. airbrushed pictures may be good for selling a poduct but they are a huge problem as they cause people to think they are ugly/fat and want to look impossibly perfect like a picture of a celeb which causes illnesses such as anorexia and bulimia
go britney, go britney!
Comment by secret on April 17 17:17
i think britney is SO brave for doing this, she's got guts. I think she looks perfectly fine in the befoe shots, she looks normal!! the after shots are SO barbie doll, who would want to look that fake anyway. its no perfection, its ridculous and mis-leading to younger people. She is a role model, so teensgers will look up to her, adn the image of ''perfection'' that she appears t display in the sfter shots will give people unreachable targets of how they should look. im glad britney did this, it gives everyone a reality check.
Comment by me on April 17 17:18
i can understand why she has done it because nobody would want to see her bruises and saggies but they don't need to make her look like something that nobody could acheive naturally.everywhere you look there is people trying all sorts of things to look like their role models and they are never happy with themselves because they are constantly comparing themselves to these fake pictures. well done to britany for releaseing the original shots but next time i think they should airbrush them more naturally than so fake and plastic like these. :)
Comment by abbie on April 17 17:26
britney has a gorgeous body, one of the few celeb bodies out there with womanly curves, she looks beatiful in the first shots and why they had to tamper with the pics like that i have no idea. Why are we living in a world where perfection is required? :(
Comment by Katie on April 17 17:34
omg this is so awesome of her :')
Shes such an inspiration, And i think its really brave of her to do this :D
good on you britney :D
Comment by Paige on April 17 17:37
Britney looks great in the original pictures, so what if she has a bit of cellulite? if the airbrushing is anything to go by then nearly every female celebrity out there has been airbrushed, but the effect of the airbrush is noticeably fake, in which case anyone could be a front page model!
It made me feel better seeing Britney is a "normal" girl, with probably the same hang ups as the rest of us, and she was brave enough to let it all hang out and show that her confidence makes her still look amazing.
Comment by Michelle on April 17 17:52
Well done Britney!!! I have never been a fan, but what you have done with your "natural" photo's is brilliant for all young girls & women to see. You look far better before than after!! This is very good of you to do this, thankyou, you are not "brave" as you have a beautiful figure & legs!!!
Comment by Mary on April 17 17:54
I hope that teenage girls will look at these and realize just how much is done to make people look that good in photos, the result of airbrushed photos is unachievable, fair play to Britney for doing it, hopefully other celebs will follow.
Comment by abbie on April 17 18:06
In the second shots, it looks like they've given her totally new legs. That's just weird.
Comment by Jess on April 17 18:10
I think its awful that she's being called "brave" as though she needs to be brave to show her NATURAL body. It's a shame that people have to be "brave" in order to show themselves for who they really are. I think she looks more womanly and beautiful in the original picture.
Comment by Laura on April 17 18:21
Well done Britney! Its about time someone actually decided to show themselves for who they are, she still looks amazing and its clear that if you even if you are a celebrity you are normal like the rest of us!
The airbrushed version is what magazines are showing young girls fake images of real people... Do we really want our youngsters to grow up thinking airbrushed is the way forward? Lets get more celebs thinking this way and start showing more original pictures and I'm sure we would all feel a little more comfortable in our own skin.
Comment by Gemma on April 17 18:30
Well done Britney! She looks beautiful in the original and plastic in the touched up pictures. If only airbrushing wasn't allowed - then we and our daughters could all feel beautiful for being human women. Britney - what girl power!
Comment by Nicky on April 17 18:31
She is brave doing this and I congratulate her! Thing is though it's the MEN that think women look this good and so we feel the pressure to look like this where in fact it's not actually viable so I blame the men ! Women, we need to show these before and after pics to the men and educate them that women don't actually look like this in real life and to stop making us feel like we have to !
Comment by Lisa on April 17 18:35
Im so pleased to see these pictures - I hope every parent of a teenage girl uses this to emphasize what a FAKE business this beauty malarkey really is. Hats off to Britney - its about time someone famous grew a pair!!!!!!
Comment by Em on April 17 18:37
I've never been a Britney fan, far from it, but I think this is a brave move and think she should be applauded. In my work I deal with teenagers who suffer from eating disorders, and these adverts and magazines play a huge part in these things. Good on you Britney, you look great in the before pic anyway!!!! If only more female celebs and singers could be this responsible.
Comment by Nicola on April 17 19:18
Its brave for her to put the real photos up there next to the aribrushed ones. The original ones weren't even that bad. I noticed that the ones after werew slighty blurred around her face than the orignals. It shows that celebrities arent perfect and that there not that different to us.
Comment by Emma on April 17 19:21
If only all celebrities did this. She looks so much better looking and healthier in the before pictures, for a start its real unlike the after shots – fake. Take pride in your real figure Britney because you are beautiful.
Comment by Lauren on April 17 19:34
What is the point of air-brushing a feature of Britney's that we see so regularly on stage anyway? I'd know those toned legs anywhere. Why bother changing their shape at all?
Comment by Melissa on April 17 19:39
she has had a lot of stick in the past but you have to take your hat off to her for showing that she is a true woman and looks great with those little imperfections we all have.
Great job Britney, I would challenge more celebs to do it. x
Comment by suzanne on April 17 19:45
I think that she's very brave in showing these pic's off, dont get me wrong she looks really good, but concidering all the very public problems shes had in the past, i think this is really brave of her as she's basically saying no-one's perfect and for that i sulute britney, i myself have body problems and seeing that not everyone is perfect actuallt gives you a confidence boost (so thanx brit for making me feel a lil better) even if she does look amazing in the pics anyway
Comment by Alisha on April 17 19:48
I think britney is doing every real woman a favour and good on her.
Real women have real bodies, and im sure there are bits on all of us we woul gladly airbrush out but thats not you in real life is it???
Good on britney for doing this. She has been through alot and came out the better side of it. If she were my child id be so very, very proud of her. What a wonderful role model for young girls.
Comment by Nicola on April 17 19:51
She looks good in the before shots and she is so altered in the after shots she may as well be entirely computerised.
Good for her, and I think she's done the right thing :)

I never realised that photos of celebrities are air brushed to this extent. We are lead to believe that these women are perfect, when in actual fact they are real women just like us. She looks amazing without all the touch ups, her imperfections make her unique. With the air brushing she looks like every other women in every other magazine.
Comment by Kathryn on April 17 20:56
Thankyou Britney. What a shining example to young body conscious youth. Its no wonder they have such a distorted view of how they should look. You are a beautiful women... no airbrushing required.
Comment by Angie on April 17 21:06
I think she looks great in the before pics, they didn't need to slim her down, because she has brilliant curves. To think, teenagers, maybe younger, look at these pictures and think that's how they should look. The self confidence in young girls would be much higher if pictures of celebrities were not airbrushed befor they were released. I wouldn't want al my flaws pointed out like that, so britney is a great role model to have it done. she should feel brave, but it's not as if she looked bad before, so she's brilliant for loving her amazing body
Comment by laura on April 17 21:07
Wow there is a huge difference between the two images. What is wrong with how she looked before, she has a lovely figure. I have no problem with airbrushing to even out skin tone but not to totally change a persons shape.
Comment by chrissie on April 17 21:09
I Actually thinks she looks better in her before pictures..dont get me wrong she looks well in her after bt her legs look to fake if ya get me..
Comment by Helen on April 17 21:13
Britney your beautiful (and real) without the airbrushing. good on you Britney
Comment by josie on April 17 21:24
please can we have more unairbrushed photos in magazines !my beautiful teenage girls are starting to question their natural curvy beauty !this helps but we need more!
Comment by angie on April 17 21:24
wow she looks fab no need for the airbrushing she looks so fake in the aftershots time the airbrushing was banned then young girls could see the real way woman look and not feel so insecure.
Comment by isabella cargill on April 17 21:30
Scary how the magazines feel the need to modify someone who has a fantastic figure already - it is quite sick really.
Airbrushing should be banned!
Comment by Mary on April 17 21:38
i think she has made a great move doing this. it has made me realise that even celebs havnt got the purfect figure and i believe that if more celebraties did this there would be a dramatic decrease of eating disorders as people wouldnt feel so pressured to look perfect. i think britney is a brave women who just wants be treated normally. why is there so much pressure on young people today?
Comment by Chloe-ariella on April 17 21:54
O Thank you, Thank you Britney, you wonderful woman! Now this is what I call "girl power", lets claim our bodies back for ourselves ladies! I love Marie Claire but I do worry about my 8 year daughter seeing the unrealistic images of woman and so I tend to hide the magazine like some naughty secret so I pray that Britney has started a trend of out with the airbrush and in with real woman.
Comment by Louise on April 17 22:00
I think it's ridiculous that celebrities always feel the need to look perfect. Get some real women on the covers of cd's and magazines .. un-airbrushed, with cellulight! We don't want to see the photoshopped skinny minnies .. because its not real, and puts pressure onto young girls!
Comment by Nia on April 17 22:10
Good on Britney for showing her true body to the public! It's a real boost to the self-esteem to know that trying to reach that "perfect" look is actually impossible, and that many of the celebrities' bodies that we are shown by the media are completely manipulated by a computer. I also see nothing for her to be ashamed of - she has a great body and is a very pretty girl.
Comment by Rebecca on April 17 22:30
Great to see that someone is brave enough to say this is not me and here is the real me. The real her looks better as she looks human and may she be the start to getting real women being on magazine covers to be role models!!
Comment by Becky Jones on April 17 22:30
have no shame !! woo go britney !! who gives a crap !! come on were all human no one cares ,its the people who care who carry on this stupid ideals people just give up !!
Comment by emily on April 17 22:36
I think she looks gorgeous in the before pictures especially for a women who has had two children!! Good on her xxx
Comment by Hollie on April 17 22:37
I can understand covering up the bruises, but apart from that there is no problem with the originals, I rather like them (except that I don't like pink!), its ridiculous that they felt the need to have to make her look slimmer. I am less slim than she is but still see myself as slim and not fat (and so do others) but after this, I might start thinking there is something wrong with me and I should be slimmer.
Comment by Raeven Irata on April 17 22:51
Being able to edit photos myself I know how easy it is... but there is covering a spot and changing how someone looks... I think there shouldn't be so much altering, real beauty needs to be celebrated!! removing a zit or a stray hair aint that big a deal!
Comment by Laura on April 17 22:52
Britney does look incredibly fabulous on the original pics. There wasn't a need to air brush the pics but we all know its the polished photoshop inage that sells mags and Ads. We should be aware that the celebrity is merely fulfilling an 'ideal' what wo/men both find appealing to look at. The overall 'Image' is what we expect of our celebrities. We don't want box standard pics of cellulite or flabbiness otherwise we'd not buy the mags/Ads. Whilst we as women may not always aspire to have the celebrity look there's no harm in fun in fake tan or a few highlights. As long as there are no stick thin stick insect models...its all harmless.
Comment by Chen on April 17 23:21
As a 16 year old Brintey fan I think its wonderful that Britney has been so brave and allowed these pictures to be shown. It makes girls like me realise theres 'normal' girls out there and that not everybody is perfect.
Well done Britney, you look lovely either way :)
Comment by Emma on April 17 23:33
Wow. She has such strong, muscly legs but yet they cropped them ridiculously it's so unrealistic.
There was and is nothing wrong with her original figure... it's rather inspirational for young women like myself (curvy yet strong and trim).
Airbrushing is taken too literally and used too much now.
Comment by Gemma-Marie on April 17 23:34
Thats ridiculous how barbie like and fake she looks in the after shot. in the first she looks attractive and healthy. i cant believe how the slim her down like that, no wonder theres such a serious problem with size 0 models and girls getting anorexia. good on her for letting them show these, she has alot to be proud of about those before shots.
Comment by Josie Anderson on April 17 23:36
I think she looks gorgeous in the original photos anyway! Most women would be more than happy to look like that in the first place. No need for any airbrushing at all. In fact, her legs look far healthier and more athletic in the originals.
Comment by Lynne on April 17 23:40
She looks pretty good in the original pics anyway! I think she's really good for putting these out, good on her!!
Comment by Mya on April 17 23:43
Well done Britney, she looks awesome in the before pictures. It's about time we started seeing real woman instead of expecting girls to aspire to something that's not achievable without an airbrush!!
Comment by Nickii on April 17 23:46
I think that there is no need to be airbrushed because your looking at a fake photo and also it is bad for the celebs to in a way because if they look in the mirror then look on there airbrushed photo in a magazine they can tell the difference and also it lowers women./.girls self asteam.x
Comment by Megan.m on April 17 23:58
considering she has had 2 children Britney looks amazing without the need to be air brushed. There are many women out there who would love her figure including myself. Good on her for exposing the pressures on women to stay unnaturally slim and the vanity of society. Britney has a very healthy figure and should not be pressured to change how she looks.
Comment by ash on April 18 00:01
i think its great what britney has done its goin to give may females more confidence in themslves now that britney has not got the'perfect' skinny celulite free body good on you brit you still look great :D
Comment by francesca on April 18 00:03
Miss Spears looks pretty good to me just as she is!!! The changes are so minimal its hardly worth the effort!! The lack of need for changes also highlights exactly how painfully slim you have to be to be a celebrity in these weight obsessed times and that is still very distressing!!!
She is very brave considering the viciousness of her business and the media but in doing so she had done exactly what she set out to do and all the girls who idolise her for her looks will not be let down and can now also be impressed by her show of strong character!!
Comment by Sarah Morgan on April 18 00:16
good on her for agreeing to this! it will help all the young girls who want to look like the girls in the mags! Well Done Britney! she looks good in the others anyway! the touch up versions just make her look more barbie-like! x
Comment by Zaidia on April 18 00:42
Britney looks fab in the before pictures and doesn't need air brushing at all. She has a great body! There should be more of this to show young girls of today natural is beautiful.
Comment by Tamzin on April 18 09:38
Thank goodness for that - they veil has been lifted and all us normal healthy girls can get on with our lives without trying to be 'perfect'. The media needs to stop this airbrushing madness - it causes so much unnecessary anxiety among the female of the species!
Comment by leanne on April 18 10:15
To be honest, Britney doesn't need to have a smaller waist or skinnier thighs, or a barbie sized stomache, she naturally had beuatiful curves. It is really brave and honest for her to "release" these photos, it also makes her seem a lot more genuine unlike other celebrities.
Welldone Britney, your amasing.
xx
Comment by Katriana on April 18 15:15
Good for you Britney. About time more celebs did this as we live in a very superficial world. It's no wonder there's so many young girls with eating disorders. She looks great in the original photos.
Comment by Jayne on April 18 17:02
Oh dear Britney, need to get to the gym. Your after pictures are how you SHOULD look, at least you have motivation now....
Comment by Barry on April 18 18:30
Well done Britney...FANTASTIC
Comment by harry on April 18 18:34
Sadly the advertising world edges for perfection - but most of us know its on big con - surely time they used their brains and let us see real - otherwise tends to go extreme the other way hehehe
Comment by rob on April 18 21:25
She looks better in the before shots. Sexier!!
Comment by Lauren on April 18 22:59
Celebrities have always been retouched. It was done by hand for all the old movie stars like Marilyn Monroe. I'd personally rather see my idols looking perfect. It's all about dreams like movies it's not real life
Comment by Cindy Jacks on April 19 11:20
I'd hit it...
Comment by Andy on April 19 12:02
I dont care - why did I even read this?
Comment by Matt on April 19 12:17
I prefer the before pic, nice camel-toe!! Mmmmm
Comment by Steve Jones on April 19 12:54
Fantastic, go for it girl. So nice to see someone as they really are, well done.
Comment by sue on April 19 13:05
Good on her for releasing them! She doesn't look bad at all in the originals but it still takes guts to let them be released. Most other celebs wouldn't do that!
Comment by Mike on April 19 14:43
i didnt know they air brushed celebrities.... i thought that was what they really looked like...
you learn something new everday... shocking!
Comment by gez on April 19 14:43
I prefer the woman on the right. Sorry
Comment by joe on April 19 19:12
I totally agree. I think the shots of her before airbrushing are amazing. she did a great comeback from having kids. it is so sad that some of the things are so obviously different. if i were her i would be sad.
Comment by martha on April 19 23:24
Well done! and about time! someone was honest about real looks, and how much is done to hide 'imperfections' in the beauty industry. The pressure put on women to be something that actually can only be achieved by airbrushing and makeup is wrong. Fantastic Britney (who looks lovely anyway) and more of it from other celebs please.
Comment by Julia Evetts on April 20 09:30
The best part about all this? Brit doesn't look at all bad in the before pics. And I HATE the legs on the afte one! Look at thefront one, they look plastic! I'd rather see Brit natural, its refreshing.
Comment by Victoria on April 20 16:16
from the first picture i couldn't even see a difference until i looked closely, thus why edit it?
i understand they want to edit out blemishes and bruises, but where is the need to slim her down and change her skin tone? there is no point all they're promoting is fake.
Comment by amber on April 20 16:24
Good on ya Brit, she's just gone way up in my estimation. Very brave and sensible to show all these young girls that pictures in mags just aren't real!
Comment by Gemma on April 21 14:39
I have never been a massive Britney fan, but these pictures have certainly improved my ideas towards her. We all look a little bit rubbish in the flesh compared to the Britneys, Cheryls etc. I hope a lot of girls see these and realise, the media really is a myth. Good on her xx
Comment by amy on April 21 21:44
Awsome. I actually feel immediately better about myself. Now where did I put that that chocolate cake......
Comment by Liz on April 22 18:47
I admide Britney so much for doing this. It's so tragic and ridiculous that we grow up in a society that teaches us to compare ourselves unfavourably to models and celebrities, but that the images we see are actually fake makes it even worse! All the poor girls growing up hating themselves and developing eating disorders because of this crap! Airbrushing should be banned!
Comment by Skip on April 25 09:26
I think she looks good enough without the air brushing and by companies usin airbrushing for anything at all they are encouraging the awful ever growing amount of people with eating disorders!!! Shame on them!!!
Comment by Sandra Andrew on June 18 16:51
She looks great in original pictures props!:) not every super star can look this good without photoshop
Comment by rima on August 09 06:48
she really does look fantastic before...and i tell you now as a woman like any other with self esteem problems...the first picture makes me feel more comfortable in my own skin...whether thats at Britneys expense or not is subjective
Comment by jessica on October 10 23:28
If they had released the originals by themselves and NOT with the airbrushed versions i'm sure noone would have a prob. it just seems worse than it is because u have something to compare it to... its like drinking a coke after eating a chocolate brownie....
Comment by Jhana on December 17 23:09
Well done Britney! I think she looks better in the "before" pics - more athletic. Great to show women that the "perfect" images presented in the media are unachieveable - unless you are using air brushing software on the pics!so many women and young girls aspire to look like the "after" image when it is impossible. Embrace what you`ve got I think!
