How refreshing? Check out this amazing shot of a completely make-up free Jessica Simpson on the front of the latest US edition of Marie Claire.

While some of us may not even be brave enough to step outside the house without the slightest hint of foundation or a quick slick of mascara, Jessica Simpson has dared to bare all to millions.

Jessica's appearance on the cover of our Stateside sister - alongside the tag line 'No makeup, No retouching, No regrets' - comes after the broadcast of her one-off TV show The Price of Beauty - a documentary about society's obsession with image.

But despite being comfortable enough in her skin to appear sans make-up and minus airbrushing on a magazine cover, the star admits that there is 'always something' about her appearance that she wants ‘to fix.'

'There's always somebody who looks better,' she told OK! Magazine in a recent interview. 'That's what we compare ourselves to.'

So what would she change about herself?

'I just wish I was taller, so all those dresses would fit!' says the 5ft 3in star.

'I like the bump in my nose. It's an imperfection, but to me it's perfection.'

The documentary sees Jessica travel to India to experience the perception of beauty in different cultures, and witness the lengths that some women will go to in order to achieve perfection.

'The journey really was finding what was beautiful inside of me and knowing that it's unique and rare,' she says.

'It was a very powerful journey. It has definitely changed my life.'

Not believing for one second that she is make up free in that photo!!
Possibly make up free but definitaly not air-brush free.

Can cleary see blusher and eyeliner!

Yeah as much as I hate say it I can def see a hint of blusher, and def eyeliner.
I don't mean to be bitchy if it comes across like that, I just don't like being lied to.

Without wishing to be unnecessarily cynical - even if there's no make-up there is still good studio lighting, professionally styled hair and a team of people trying to achieve a "flawless" picture. This is obviously not what she looks like when she gets out of bed!

Her roots are quite dark, so she could have naturally darker eyelashes - it doesn't necessarily point to mascara. Or they could've been tinted anyway, that's quite normal for a blonde celeb!

She looks great.

Maybe makeup free, but then she must have dyed her lashes and have permanent eyeliner... And they MUST have done some airbrushing.

Some, very lucky, women and most celebrities, ARE just naturally beautiful - have blemish free skin, and just have more exaggerated features, like thicker eye-lashes, fuller lips, a peachy complexion! It's true these people exist, and she's just lucky enough to be one of them! She quite often wore no make-up and had un-done hair in her series Newlyweds, she's just a pretty girl! As for a lot of women, though, this isn't the case and we need make-up to achieve a more flawless, attractive look.

Sorry but I agree with the others. There's no way she is not wearing any make-up! She clearly has bronzer/blusher and black mascara on at least! Possibly even a bit of light foundation and nude lipstick/gloss on. Anyway, wouldn't we all look that good if we too had our image photo shopped etc...! Stop making us normal folk feel inadequate all the time!

I'm a professional model and know the ins and outs of being infront of a camera. She is DEFINATELY EITHER wearing make-up or they've been very clever with PhotoShop. I don't know why they try to pull the wool over our eyes.

Whether she's wearing make up or not is irrelevant. The point is she looks naturally gorgeous. There are no layers of eyeshadow or fake eyelashes her lips are pale and natural and she looks absolutely fantastic. She is a very beautiful lady and I for one am a huge fan of the natural look. Just because she doesn't look crap doesn't mean we all have to criticise.

Good on the girl, for once I have some admiration for her.

No one is criticizing, there's no denying the fact that she looks gorgeous. People just don't like being lied to. It's complete misrepresentation and I for one don't see the point to it.

You can clearly see highlighter,blusher, eyeliner and mascara and obviously a stylist has done her hair.
A clever photographer with fantastic lighting has made this shot LOOK NATURAL!
Anyone can see that she's a pretty girl but why lie to do the cover story?

Have seen a makeup free piccie in National Enquirer I believe and she wasnt bad ..there may be a hint of stuff..lashdye..hintofatint on lips...well..if so..she must feel insecure and want to prove something..shame..pretty girl who also waffles about weightplus and no weight issues...Just one of many....makes a change from piccies of CC etc..

You mean there's no make-up under that blatent make-up your wearing. Get straight out of bed and take a picture with a cheep digital camera, under strip lighting, without your £200 face cream on. Then I might be impressed, but probably not.
