Cheryl Cole debuted a striking new hairstyle on Saturday's X Factor stage, ditching her extensions in favour of a shorter, choppier coiffure.

There were no doubt collective gasps in living rooms across the country on Saturday evening, as Ms Cole stepped onto the X Factor stage.

Gone were those famous long locks of hers, and in place was a textured, tousled long bob, sitting just above her shoulders.

The stylish star recently came under fire for appearing in L'Oreal adverts, with a-blink-and-you'll-miss-it, ‘styled with some natural extensions' written in the bottom corner of the screen.

Cheryl has never made secret her use of both human hair and acrylic extensions, but many fans complained, claiming that the advert was misleading.

So, whether this had something to do with her latest makeover, or whether she just fancied a change - CC decided that the time was up for the X-tensions, which reportedly cost a cool £700 at a time.

But we're willing to bet a certain Dannii Minogue is somewhat miffed by the attention Ms Cole's barnet is receiving.

Having wowed us with a vast array of incredible ever-changing hairstyles over this series of the X Factor, Dannii's attempts have gone and been well and truly trumped by her fellow judge - and on semi-final week no less!

I would hardly say Dannii was "trumped" by Cheryl, any girl can whack 6 inches off her hair and rough it up a bit. I would be highly impressed with any girl who can pull off half of the looks Dannii has over the season.

Hair aside Dannii's outfits this week knocked Cheryl out of the park....... AGAIN

I'm slightly more of a Dannii fan but let's face it, they're both gorgeous. Think the hair really works for Cheryl - it's much more modern.

An ICON!?! Purleease!!! Madonna is an icon-someone who has changed the direction of music/fashion etc all on their own. Someone who has created a 'scene' and everyone has followed. I remember everyone going out to buy 'Wall Street' stripes and power dressing because she started it!! Miss. Cole wears nice clothes and has pretty hair and make up that has been meticulously planned by her flunkies. Someone like Madonna or Lady GaGa devises and controls everything they wear/touch/sing/say. Chezza's hardly setting the world alight is she!?!

its a boring hairdo n she is boring and fake! i dont know what all the hype is over her! she used to be fat and had horrible teeth when she first joined girls aloud she is not naturally beautiful just another exmample of what money and make up artists can do! plus she cant even sing live! Its not ment to be the "cheryl factor" Danni is much nicer

Pretty girl, awful accent, (I can say that, I'm a Geordie)! Tries to 'intellectualise' her comments to the contestants. (Got your mojo back etc - a saying from the late sixties). Bad Grammer and actually her legs aren't that good. Her video for her latest release was a Janet Jackson rip off - in my opinion.
She's probably a very nice girl but she gets on my wick!

She wears so much make up and is a fake! she is def not a fashion icon most of the time the clothes she wears are just dresses that are in fashion at the current time! People only feel sorry for her cause her husband cheated on her! Shes boring n dont see why she gets all the camera time on x factor! Dont vote joe its just another vote for cheryl!!!
