By Louise O'Connell on Tuesday 24 November 2009
Toni&Guy are to launch a new hair cutting and styling service in March 2010 to help people living with cancer and it has the backing of Macmillan Cancer Support.
It may seem frivolous but the state of our hair can affect our psyche and wellbeing - both of which are particularly fragile while you're fighting cancer.
Toni&Guy will be developing a training programme for their hairstylists called Strength in Style, where anyone who is living with cancer will have access to a salon where a trained professional will be able to offer support and advice on hair care.
Toni Mascolo said, 'With over two million people living with cancer in the UK, Toni&Guy has the opportunity to make a huge impact on people's lives.'
Charles Byrne head of corporate partnerships at Macmillan Cancer Support said, 'Hair loss can have a really devastating impact on people going through cancer treatment and the relationship between a person and their hairdresser is extremely personal. Our partnership with Toni&Guy as Strength in Style will help us improve the lives of everyone affected by cancer.'
Award-winning hairdresser Trevor Sorbie also offers a hair care and wig cutting service for people fighting cancer. His My New Hair service is a not-for-profit hair cutting and styling team of 200 who offer advice, wig customisation to people who have suffered medical hair loss.
