Hot hair trend: Cheryl Cole's penchant for plaits

That famous tumbling mane might be staring out from L'Oréal ads all over the country, but Cheryl Cole seems to have ditched the big-and-bouncy look, for a new penchant for plaits.

Arriving at the Radio 1 studios this morning, Mrs Cole worked sailor chic in an anchor motif sweater and paint-splattered jeans.

But it was her loose single plait that really caught our eye - the same style she wore for the first X Factor live show on Saturday.

The knotty braid, side-swept across one shoulder was quite a departure from the Girls Aloud beauty's voluminous locks, which she favoured throughout the last season of the talent show.

And what is new about this style? Its the simplest way to keep your hair swept softly back, i've worn it that way for years, she isn't exactly breaking new ground?? Although that dress on Saturday...now that was, just awful! Can you see girls out on a Saturday night at their local club wearing that??

I don't know is advising her these days but the hair is really out of date and that dress, doesn't she know it's October and not December so rather early for dressing up as a fairy for the top of the tree!!!!

I don't get the press's obsession with Cheryl. Okay she's pretty, but I wear my hair like this a lot when it's untameable. As for the dress, i like it, but it isn't christmas yet!!

is everyone delusional?She is dressed like a total chav and the gold dress is like something from a travellers wedding!!shocking!!i think ppl r blinded because they r obsessed by her for some reason!!shes very pretty but nothing out of the ordinary!!I JUST DONT GET IT!
