Lily Allen goes for the bob

By Lucy Hutchings  on Friday 27 March 2009

Lily Allen, celebrity news, Marie Claire

Lily Allen debuted a new shorter 'do last night, ditching her unflattering Lady Di cut for a slick bob and blunt fringe.

Performing at London's Shepherds Bush Empire, the singer took to the stage in black denim hot pants and a strapless basque, but it was her new 'do that really caught our attention.

Sleeker than the shaggy look she's sported of late, the blunt fringe and sharper bob made a sophisticated style change for the Smile singer.

The gig was the second London leg of Allen's latest tour, and though her locks may have changed since the first, one thing stayed constant: Kate Moss.

Back again after attending Lily's first gig at Camden's Koko, the super took a front row seat, before heading back to her St John's Wood pad, with the singer in tow.

The pair partied until the early hours, with Lily finally stumbling out at 4.30am.

As for the origins of their friendship, and Lily revealed that the super once saved her from being beaten up by a group of girls at Glastonbury several years ago.

She described, 'These girls were beating me up and (Kate) was the only person who stood in and said 'leave her alone you're being bullies.

'They stabbed me in the ear with a beer can and cut my ear open, I also had two black eyes - it was a bit of a nightmare.'
