Why men prefer long locks to short crops

Marie Claire Celebrity News: Cheryl Cole

Men find women with long flowing locks more of a turn-on than short crops, according to a new poll.

Women who sport longer hairdos, like Kelly Brook or Cheryl Cole, are seen as far sexier than women like Victoria Beckham who've cropped their hair into short bobs.

In fact, the shorter the 'do, the less likely a man is to fancy you. Well, that's what the stats say anyway.

'Hair is such a defining part of a woman's appearance,' Karen Moore, of TRESemme Philips hair appliances, who carried out the survey, says.

'Long hair is traditionally strongly linked to femininity which we're sure is the reason that almost half of men have singled out this long, thick, wavy hair as their number one sexiest style.

'It's interesting to see that men still favour the traditional stereotypical looks for women, with long hair coming out on top despite the massive popularity of shorter styles like 'the Pob' and Agyness Deyn-style crops with women.'

The good news, however, if you've already chopped off your hair and really care what men think, is that they also prefer more natural 'dos, so you can throw your mousse and hairspray away.

What do we think? Choose a hairstyle that suits you, not the one you've seen on your favourite celebrity, and you'll feel far sexier and more confident than if you're trying to pull off a look that probably took a tonne of hair extensions and five hours of styling.
