Jail for straighteners thief
A hairdresser has been sent to prison for stealing nearly 1,000 sets of hair straighteners to sell on auction site, eBay.
The hairdresser thief, Mark McMorrine, lifted the popular hair styling tools over a two-year period from salons owned by the renowned stylist Charlie Miller.
McMorrine used trainee hairdressers to post the styling irons to buyers and used work computers to set up deals on the auction site.
The jury at Edinburgh Sheriff Court came to a majority verdict and found McMorrine guilty of theft and fraud, sentencing him to 18 months in jail.
The court heard that the hairdresser used his fraudulent earnings to buy flash cars and pay for a wedding.
Owner Charlie Miller resorted to hiring private detectives to get to the bottom of things when he claims almost £80,000 worth of stock went missing.
After the verdict, Charlie Miller said: "I'm glad it is all over and am happy that justice has been done. I feel very sad for him."

Yet again a thief gets a longer jail sentence than a child molester or a driver who kills someone - when are the Law Lords going to act and pass new laws rectifying this travisty?
