Avon has launched its first ever global fundraising scheme, a charity bracelet unveiled yesterday by brand ambassador Reese Witherspoon.
Revealed at the second annual Global Summit for a Better Tomorrow, presented by the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) in partnership with Avon, the event marked International Women's Day.
Avon chairman and chief executive officer, Andrea Jung, pictured with Reese, commented, 'I am so proud today to announce a new, worldwide commitment to improving the lives of women with the launch of our first global fundraising product. The Womens Empowerment Bracelet represents infinite possibilities for all women, and we hope that women around the world will join us in a show of solidarity by wearing it.'
Witherspoon added, 'As honorary chair of the Avon Foundation, Im very excited to introduce the Womens Empowerment Bracelet. Wearing this bracelet is a way to support efforts to save and improve womens lives worldwide; every purchase will help empower women.'
Proceeds from the sale of the bracelet will help launch an initiative entitled the Avon Empowerment Fund, which will in turn contribute to the UN Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women. Avon have pledged to raise $1 million.
The bracelet will be available exclusively through Avon representatives, and is a blue cord, which features a silver toned symbol.
Meanwhile, it seems that Reeses relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal is going from strength to strength. The pair were spotted dining out at New York restaurant Prune on Sunday night.
An onlooker said the couple, who shared a dry-aged ribeye steak for two, were really cute. They were really sweet together and they looked really in love.
