Nicky Hambleton-Jones, shares her most valuable secrets.
‘The secret to eternal youth is something many people dream of,’ says Nicky. ‘While there’s no sure fire way of keeping your skin wrinkle-free for ever, there are several steps you can incorporate into your daily routine to give yourself the best chance of keeping old age at bay.’
The biggest step, explains Nicky, is to avoid overexposure to UV rays, which are known to be one of the biggest causes of premature ageing.
‘It damages the collagen matrix in the skin, causing it to look wrinkled, leathery and old before its time, and increases the risk of developing skin cancer.’
Smoking is another key contributor to early signs of aging. ‘Stopping smoking is one of the best things people can do to keep their skin healthy,’ says Nicky. ‘Smokers tend to develop a dull, grey complexion with deep set lines- not a particularly youthful look.’
A healthy diet and drinking plenty of water is the next critical step to gaining youthful looks. ‘What you put into your body is reflected in your appearance,’ insists Nicky. ‘Eat a balanced diet high in fibre, fruit and vegetables and try to drink two litres of water a day.
‘Exercise regularly, also. Keeping fit will make you more adventurous with the way you dress.’
Only after these key areas have been addressed does Nicky move on to the importance of a good beauty regime. ‘Exfoliation is really important for your skin,’ she says. ‘It helps prevent the build up of dead skin cells, leaving skin glowing. I can also reduce the appearance of fine lines’
