Thanks fan for body-positive message comparing an image of her to the Greek goddess of love

In a world where trolling people is far too easy, messages of support and admiration are more than welcome. Which is exactly what happened to Amy Schumer this week when one fan posted an image of her and Greek goddess, Aphrodite side by side in an Instagram picture, celebrating the Trainwreck star’s healthy body image.

‘On the left is a sculpture of the goddess Aphrodite, who is renowned for her beauty. On the right is @amyschumer. What a wonderful resemblance between two beautiful women. So many women and young girls are shamed by the media and fashion industry for not having a flat stomach and not being a size zero,’ the post read. ‘But look, the goddess of beauty is portrayed here with stomach rolls and doesn't have a perfectly smooth, toned body. I want to remind everyone that they do not have to be a Victoria's Secret model to be a beautiful goddess with a beautiful body. Your body is not bad, ugly, or wrong. Embrace your inner goddess. #bodypositive #amyschumer #everybodyisagoodbody #Aphrodite.’

Giving a shout out to the post herself, Amy Schumer re-posted the photo with the message: ’Thanks for posting this!’ alongside the fan's full message to Instagram.

Like most things on the internet, there were supporters and haters, leading Whitney, the 22 year old college student who posted the image to share a follow up post, addressing the critics: ‘I never expected to get so much attention on my last picture and I never expected Amy Schumer to like/ comment on it. I absolutely love that people are finding inspiration in it. However, like all good things, the internet must s**t on it.’

We’re pretty sure Amy will be unfazed by any trolling though. Last week, the actress captioned a swimsuit photo saying, ‘good morning trolls!" I hope you find some joy in your lives today in a human interaction and not just in writing unkind things to a stranger you've never met who triggers something in you that makes you feel powerless and alone. This is how I look. I feel happy. I think I look strong and healthy and also like miss trunchbull from Matilda. Kisses!’
