Women's Euros have new home on channel

BBC Sport has announced a new home for women's football coverage - BBC3.

The channel will show live games from the 2013 Women's European Football Championship, held at Sweden's Arena Linkoping, between July 10-28, with additional coverage online and on Radio 5 live.

This is part of the BBC's commitment to women's football. On May 20 BBC Sport will show a preview show of the FA Women’s Cup Final on BBC Two as well as live coverage of the game on May 26.

BBC Director of Sport Barbara Slater commented: 'We are delighted to provide cross-platform coverage of this summer’s European Championship as well as Women’s football in general as the sport continues to grow in popularity.

'With the tournament being broadcast on BBC Three we want to build on the momentum of London 2012 by making Women’s Football available to new audiences.

'The Women’s Euros joins an impressive BBC Sport Football portfolio that includes the Premier League on Match of the Day and 5 live, the Football League, this summer’s Confederations Cup and next year’s World Cup.'

The England team have been drawn with Russia, Spain and France. Star player Rachel Yankey is hoping to lead the team with glory. She has Marie Claire's full support!
