COMEDY NIGHT HELD FOR 7/7 VICTIM
THE FRIENDS AND family of Miriam Hyman, a 32-year-old picture researcher and artist who died in the London bombings, are to hold a fundraising comedy night in her name.
Miriam was killed on the number 30 bus as she made her way to work at a publishing company on 7 July 2005. She boarded the bus after calling her father on her mobile phone to tell him she had been evacuated from King's Cross and was okay.
To mark the second anniversary of the attacks next month, those who knew and loved her have organised Mim's Comedy Night at the Comedy Store in central London. Comedians including Simon Amstell, Jon Culshaw, Simon Brodkin and Marcus Brigstocke will provide the entertainment and money raised will go to the Miriam Hyman Memorial Fund, which supports the charity ORBIS UK to combat preventable blindness in developing countries.
Esther Hyman, Miriam's sister, said: 'By holding Mim's Comedy Night we want to continue to do what we have tried to do all along, which is to make something positive come of the events of 7/7. At the time of the anniversary, Mim would approve of us raising our spirits as well as money for her Fund.'
As well as comedy, there will also be an auction, the chance to buy cards and posters featuring Miriam's artwork and a raffle, with prizes including a champagne tea for two at Claridges. To buy tickets for the event on Monday 9 July, visit www.ticketmaster.co.uk or call 0870 060 2300. Tickets are also available in person from the Comedy Store box office. (21 June 2007)
