Jaeger Autumn Winter 2011 Catwalk Report

The highlight of day two of London Fashion Week? Undoubtedly the Jaeger London catwalk show at the BFC tent at London's Somerset House.

Despite the show falling on the most miserable Saturday afternoon on record (probably) the fashion crowd turned out in their droves to support BFC and Jaeger chair Harold Tillman and design director Stuart Stockdale. The iconic British label had its fair share of A-List fans, from Brit front row perennial Jameela Jamil to New York glamourpuss Olivia Palermo - as well as every fashion editor worth their platform boots.

The Jaeger design team presented a collection inspired by the 'rich landscapes of the British Empire' with to-die-for separates and exquisitely structured coats and dresses. Think crafted classics given a stylish new twist for AW11 - from the great winter coat with oversized lapels to the altered proportions of textured knitwear, elegant capes, and spat and piping detail shoes and boots.

The colour palette was also distinctly British with plenty of navy, red and military green, along with dogstooth and check prints, underlining the label's heritage. Darker ensembles were livened up with highlights of yellow, turquoise, gold and orange. For an instant AW11 wardrobe update, we'll be taking a leaf out of Jaeger London's book and mixing jewel-bright accessories with black outfits to keep it low key yet stylish when the temperature drops (again) come autumn.
