Nicola Roberts was seen emerging from Cheryl Cole's Surrey pad yesterday after comforting the star late into the night.

Nicola and fellow Girls Aloud bandmate Kimberley Walsh - who have both been spotted out and about recently attending London Fashion Week - rushed to Cheryl's side to comfort the heartbroken star.

This comes following revelations yesterday that Ashley blames Cheryl's mum for the breakdown of their marriage.

Joan Tweedy moved into the couple's nine-bedroom Hurtmore mansion shortly after Ashley was accused of cheating with hairdresser Amiee Walton in 2008.

Some sources say Ashley is only trying to offload blame and paint a picture of an unstable marriage as the threat of a divorce looms, while others claim the footballer was genuinely unhappy with the arrangement.

'Cheryl and Ashley barely saw each other in the last few months,' one insider revealed.

'And when they were both at home Cheryl would stay up watching TV with her mum while he went to bed. It's a bit of a passion killer to have your mum in the house.'

And with Joan still comforting Cheryl at her Surrey home, it seems other members of the couple's family are now intent on getting involved.

While Ashley's father supports Cheryl's decision to split - commenting: 'Nobody can blame Cheryl for giving Ashley the boot. He's made her look a mug,' - it's been reported his mother Susan has been phoning Cheryl on her son's behalf, urging her to reconsider.

But it might not be long before we hear Cheryl's side of the story.

Reports suggest she has been booked to appear on Jonathan Ross's Friday night chat show some time in March.

aww cheryl, im here for you, well we are all here for you. your a great girl, and i guess ashley really wasnt the guy for you, i think you should keep your head high. dont let his stupidness get all on you, because he should be the one suffering, i wish i could see him, and i would go to him, look what you have just lost, everything you had, someone who loved you for being you, and you ahve not got anyone like that ever again. there would probably be some strong language involved too haha. well im here for you :) x

Ashley is behaving like a spoilt child. Just because Cheryl's finally had the sense to break it off with him he has decided to turn nasty. Bet he didn't complain all the time Cheryl's mum was keeping their house clean and cooking his dinners

Sorry Ruby, but I don't believe that Cheryl's Mum was doing the cleaning and cooking Ashley's dinner. They've got 22 million quid between them - couldn't they afford a cleaner?!

Whilst theres no excuse for cheating (fix it or end it), I would imagine it would be extremely difficult to have a healthy adult relationship with your partners mum in the house. How would anyone know if she cleans or cooks for them? Whats that got to do with it anyway? I imagine its more of Ashleys fortune than Cheryls that pays for her mums share of bills and food. It must have been desperately lonely for him to have been away from his partner whilst she was filming for months at a time if they were in trouble, maybe she should have thought about putting their relationship before her career for a while. But everyones Team Cheryl, for some reason, so obviously she had no part to play in him looking elsewhere for affection.

Cheryl's mum didn't live in their house, she wasn't in the bedroom next door!!..She has a part of the house to her self!....Good luck Cheryl x

Lee, did you read that back to yourself before you hit 'post'?
When you have that much cash, I wonder if him spending a few thousand quid more than Cheryl bothered him. We don't konw what goes on behind closed doors but from what we've heard, her mum moved in because he'd been 'playing away' before. So, surely doing it again is not going to make him popular with the missus (or the mum!). Grow up Ashley. If you're unhappy, talk to your wife. If she won't listen or you feel hard done by, finish it yourself. Don't make her look like a mug and yourself like an idiot by cheating again. You're a grown man. Take responsibility for yourself. Did you really think that a man in your position would get away with it? The girls you're playing away with aren't into you for your personality love, it's to see what they can get out of you.
